that ninja creamy video is exactly why appliances should not be a labyrinth of cheap plastic parts. minimal hate on ninja tho - they are a cool company.

Time to start GAF about microplastics. 🫀 A landmark study in the European Heart Journal just showed significantly higher amounts of microplastics in the coronary arteries of people having heart attacks. 🚨 84.2% of severe, active heart attack (STEMI) patients had detectable micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) circulating in their coronary blood. By comparison, plastics were detected in 40% of patients with stable chronic heart disease and 31.8% of controls with healthy arteries. Heart attack patients carried both a significantly higher overall concentration and a wider diversity of plastic polymers. 🧪 The Primary Culprit was polyethylene, the ubiquitous plastic used in single-use packaging, plastic bags, and food containers. It was detected in 97% of plastic-positive samples. If you want to lower your exposure to microplastics avoid the follow as much as possible: -plastic bottled water -soda/ water in cans (lined with plastic) -soup cans (also lined with plastic and filled hot) -paper coffee cups (lined with plastic, filled with hot liquids) -food packaged in plastic (impossible to be perfect here but less microplastic exposure is always better) 🔥 Patients with plastics in their coronary blood showed significantly elevated systemic inflammatory markers, specifically Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α). Researchers hypothesize these microscopic particles provoke vascular inflammation, which can contribute to plaque instability. 🫁 How are these particles entering the bloodstream? Through the foods we consume and MNP detection was highest in smokers (who had a 5.7x increased likelihood) and individuals exposed to high fine air pollution PM 2.5>15. The team notes that smoking and airborne particulate matter likely compromise lung tissue barriers, making it easier for inhaled particles to cross directly into circulation. Inhalation and consumption appear to be the primary routes of exposure. Takeaway: While this observational study doesn't single-handedly prove plastics cause heart attacks, it provides strong clinical evidence that environmental plastic accumulation is an active, unmeasured cardiovascular risk factor. 📄 Study Reference: European Heart Journal (July 2026) | PMID: 42447841

We’re often underestimated. My response is always the same: Work harder. Make progress. Be relentless. They may not be familiar with our game… But they will be.
