Game preview live at nofuss.co.za/games/wartech/. Early days, lots of tweaks needed, many bug fixes coming, but the core is playable. I tried to make it something old school with some new twists. Oh, by the way, compiled with WasmCoffee...

Actually crazy. I sat and typed out every one of these 650 words, in about 10 minutes. I cannot imagine how bad students have things; when every "FREE AI TEXT DETECTOR" just flat-out has no clue.

Actually just so excited to work. Just, for a time, not focused on the bad things in tech. Only how much I am learning and building. How interested I am in the profession again; after many years of searching for places to learn and stave off boredom.

I am fully in my "build lovely things because I want to learn" era. I have successfully plugged into AI such that I am able to produce more than I used to at a better quality; while opening up more free time to experiment. 10x quality of life.

A few weeks ago I was genuinely worried about what AI coding meant for engineers. Now I think it's the opposite. The typing was never the job. We're here for the craft: the defaults, the error messages, how it feels to the person using it. That part still needs us. More than ever.

Guy at company, that sells the thing that will end your career if you let it, tells you to stop caring about every line of code you produce. surejan.gif

Taste is build 1 line at a time. Scale is learned 1 line at a time. 10x is a myth told to developers at bed time. If you were 1/10 as good as you would have been just cause you typed slow then you were doing the wrong job before.

By all means: lock in and make great things. Just don't give your power and pride over to the emptiness machine. That is its own kind of doom.

Replying to @alexdebecker
@alexdebecker I would love to have an app use 2 managed caches: 1 for most app data and 1 that is public (so it can be hit from a second app without waking my API server up). Trouble is it appears I can only link 1 cache at a time.

Do you know if there are any plans to allow multiple caches to be linked to a single env?

Bought a used Asus Chromebox 2 from a local pawn shop. It was enterprise enrollment locked, so they were selling this i7 3ghz machine for about $30. Flashed the bootloader so it now runs Ubuntu Server. RAM + SSD upgrade in the mail. It's going to be a worker node for my bot.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support 💖

Leaning towards making Redis public and having the agent tools read from it first before waking the API(s) up.

I feel as though I am on the winning end of AI. My textual output might be weaker, but it has forced me to become a better communicator. A better pair-programmer. A better architect and planner.

Fully embracing every tool Laravel Cloud has to offer. Don't fall into the trap I did of avoiding things because of "extra costs". It's time to remember all the tools good infra requires, and how they can work in concert to actually reduce costs.

I have never thought more about how my app is structured. At first I was annoyed at how different the mindset was. I was comfortable in my laziness. It's been a lot of learning (how to do tons in CloudFlare, how to maximise scale-to-zero).

Even if I moved off of Cloud (unlikely given how much I am enjoying it), these are lessons that will work in any server less env. I have left coworkers to focus on this stuff for far too long.
