Has anyone written a genome assembly scaffolding algorithm that combines 10x linked reads and HiC data? If not, is there any reason why these wouldn’t combine complementarily to generate a higher resolution proximity matrix? #Genomics

Metagenomic long-read assemblies often collapse closely-related strains/species. Here we assembled 428 high-quality MAGs from ~250Gb PacBio HiFi reads. ~50% MAGs have no polymorphisms, and we can phase the remaining ones. A collaboration with @BickhartDerek, Tim Smith et al.

Hey #GenomeAssembly tweeps, it strikes me that it would be useful to have two different assembly gap notations for high confidence (i.e. don't mess with) scaffolding and one for low confidence (correct if you can) scaffolding. Anyone else agree and/or done something like this?

The Telomere-to-Telomere consortium is proud to announce our v1.0 release of a complete human genome. When @khmiga asked me to team up on this a few years ago, I wasn't sure it would be possible. Now down to just 5 gaps. What a journey! Read more here genomeinformatics.github.io/…
