Have you ever met a billionaire? I have one in my family and I promise you, they have no desire to retreat to a mountain and live outside the life of luxury they are used to.
They love being rich. They love everyone looking at them in their Lamborghinis. They love spending 3 or $4000 on meals. They love being on the top of society. Most do at least.
Why would they force a reset where they have to retract to their bunkers and live a challenging and less luxurious life?
If they forced society to fail, their safety is highly at risk as well. There are not too many places to hide with millions of starving people.
Their plan is likely a slow and steady burn over decades, not a reset.
