We have been quite active those last months :
* new peering pop in Interxion AMS9
* new transit in PAR : Telia/Arelion
* new PNI with Orange/OTI
Lots of new peers, check out our netmap : netmap.scaleway.com/
Tomorrow early morning we will be updating one of #scaleway core routers in Paris. During the maintenance our peers might see closed BGP sessions, as this morning; users should not see anything. status.scaleway.com/incident…
Field teams report a couple of multi-mode links having been decommissioned.
That feeling when you got the right t-short this morning.
We just wanted to decommission a couple of 10GE cards on the backbone routers to go full 100GE when 20kg of scrap metal popped out suddenly.
Some pics of the last night battle, if you are not subscribed to our boss. Almost the whole French internet/telecom industry was there despite covid.

Les héros du moment, déployés sur une dizaine de points de coupure sur 5 communes. Tous les opérateurs sur le pont. Du jamais vu en 20 ans de métier. Bon courage et bonne nuit à tous
Links are coming up little by little this morning. High impact is persisting but it's already much better. Almost no saturation by now but it's low traffic time. We hope to have enough capacity to not have any major saturation tonight. (fingers crossed)
A bit better though still hard here since about an hour ago. Thanks @CogentCo and our DC teams for the joint work witch permitted to recover their capacity in DC2. Backbone operations are frozen here by the moment (emergency only), field teams are working hard all night.
Situation is still very hard but relatively stable. Field teams all over the area are splicing fibers, we are doing our best to find every bit of unused capacity and optimize whatever we can optimize to limit saturation during the upcoming peak time.
We have a major fiber cut in our Paris datacenters since 07:30 UTC.
A lot of our peers are down, our provider is working on the fiber reparation but it will take while. See netmap.scaleway.com/ and status.scaleway.com/incident… for updates.
A massive fiber cut in Paris region, impacting several operators in our DCs. We lost a portion of our own backbone capacity, some links are saturated. DC collocation customers are also impacted. We are currently doing all what we can despite COVID. Will keep you informed.

Just to give you a little idea of what's going on here. This is only one of our platforms. Our total external traffic hit 4Tbps at peak time a few days ago. That's all you guys pushing those IP packets. Don't forget to wash your hands frequently!

Yesterday's fiber cut follow-up: most of the links got up this morning. Situation is stable, redundancy and capacity margin is mostly back. Fiber provider's teams are in the fields, splicing and moving cables.

Voici @AlertePelleteuz la coupable, et les degats qu'elle a occasionné.
Courage aux travailleurs sur place, contraints de bosser par des températures négatives 😕 #ChatNoir
