Two years ago I tweeted about design faults about the Phoksingtar bridge connecting Udaypur and Khotang. Yesterday the bridge got washed away.

I'm not an engineer... but doesn't that bridge look a bit low? Have never seen an arch bridge where the arch itself blocks the water like that [New bridge connecting Khotang and Udaypur, Nepal].

Instead of a bloated ceremonial Nepal Army & Armed Police Force we need to reduce their size and have a well trained & equipped 10,000 strong search & rescue team - around 1,400 strong for each province.
This is beyond disgusting! People DIED waiting for help in Nakkhu, Lalitpur, and the rescue teams were nowhere to be fing seen! What kind of worthless system lets this happen? Get your s together before more innocent lives are lost! #NepalFloods #AbsoluteFailure
