I love this, especially because I was one of those 100,000 people that said this about blockchain. More importantly, I love the fact that Joe came to the same conclusion the we did as we learned about what @chameleon_jeff and the team built at @HyperliquidX. For all the "100,000" people who have been saying this for "10 years", this is it - it has arrived! @HypeStrat $PURR @rediamondjr
MAYBE I WAS WRONG ABOUT BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY I wrote about how I always used to make fun of the guys who said things like "Bitcoin is speculative, but the underlying blockchain technology is interesting." And now I think maybe they kinda had a point.

read this again and god damn it is underappreciated not because "it mentions 7x airdrops so there is defo an hyperliquid s3" but because it comes up with so many side effects: - token launches becoming a legit way to fund startups in the US rather than something companies have to move offshore to do - tokenization becoming a mainstream business model - clarity around buybacks - potentially opening the door to all consumer apps to use airdrops to acquire users and distribute ownership man we are talking about potentially changing how companies in the us raise money, find users and distribute value you arent bullish enough on crypto

The simplest bull case for Hyperliquid is that markets provide signal. If you price Hyperliquid based on the fact that it's at least 417% more valuable than ICE or 46% more than CME based on trading hours alone, you get a range of $685 to $2,070 per HYPE When you consider CME even had to shelve their plans for 24/7 trading, I don't think this is a terrible way to have a sense of the value Hyperliquid creates by offering totally uninterrupted price discovery
We get to watch $TSLA demo a literal flying car and run to our screens and long $TSLA perps on @HyperliquidX 12 hours before the rest of the world wakes up and sees this shit. What a time to be alive. I refuse to be a bear.

the "investable token" thesis is becoming true if your token dont have real revenue, real value accrual and distributions that dont make holders feel like exit liquidity -> you are fucked cool thing now is that the market rewards those structures, so more teams are incentivized to optimize for the token itself so you get: before = token as extraction vehicle now = token as the actual investable asset how it should always have been but never really the case there is nothing more bullish for the industry
pretty sure we've reached the point where S tier operators are realizing that it is far more efficient to drive value to your token rather than have an equity vehicle and pray for an acquisition / IPO - and so it makes way more sense to just "do the right thing" creating internet capital markets and making every liquid fund's dream come true

While 100% of the world's financial system may seem ludicrously ambitious, Jeff says they would be happy with 90%

Hyperliquid is unlike any other crypto endeavor I can think of. It’s not another memecoin casino. It’s a focused endeavor to re-architect finance and it’s the one where people are trading oil perps 24/7. It’s not a household name, but it’s caught up to Sol in USDC issuance

Crypto in its value era, while AI is in its inflated token era. Value tends to be where few are looking.

setup: worst cross-asset undeperformance in crypto's history past few years driven by • brain drain to AI • lack of innovation post-defi cambrian explosion • gold exceptional once in decade deca-trillions rerating add on top 10/10 worst liquidation day for alts ever sentiment and positioning on crypto from insti & retail side at this bottom on altcoins are at multi year lows, maybe the lowest ever only one direction to go, up, in an asset class where it is heavily momentum driven ---- now on the flip side, for the first time in crypto's history, there are altcoins with • zero to little VC overhang • real pmf uniquely powered by crypto rails • regulatory environment finally leaning positive • everyone sitting on infinite unrealized gains from AI supercycle the industry is no longer spray and pray, and the coins that will receive bids are going to move extremely quickly

the return to dino coins trend is prob just rediscovery of old vintage projects from a time when crypto actually tried to do things (relative to now) and prior to brain drain to AI/tech (rightly so tbh) cryptography, quantum resistance, cross chain protocols, defi, tokenization, etc lots of junk back then also. but post 2021 environment for crypto has really just been a slew of projects that are rehashes of existing ideas (but now on chain x!) or just plain low effort; many exceptions ofc but speaking very generally about mean project also helps that even if most of these projects were formerly VC cash grabs, enough time has passed that they are now mostly fully diluted

alexandr wang spent his 19th birthday as an MIT freshman on a winter internship at hudson river trading. around the table: jeff yan, who went on to start hyperliquid (~$20B) scott wu, who went on to start cognition ($48B) jesse zhang, who went on to start decagon ($4.5B) and wang, who started scale AI, got $14.3B from meta for 49% of it, and now runs meta's superintelligence lab. when HRT's founder told him they were starting to do private investments: "just invest into the interns. all the interns get seed checks." another wonderful episode from David Senra.

I've been trying to emphasize this for a while now. We've just been beta testing and PvP'ing our way to having on chain businesses that are actually investable and demonstrably superior to TradFi alternatives, and the sidelined TradFi money is finally starting to form conclusions on the real tokens worth a punt. TradFi career risk has materially shifted from those who invested in crypto too early to those who don't have a 6-12 month outlook on tokenization, stablecoins, etc. Nobody wants to be caught flat footed. Guys who laughed me out of the building two years ago are hitting me back up and showing a genuine desire to understand the space. You'd be shocked at some of the tickers these guys are dropping. The conversation has shifted from "Why should I invest in this industry", To "What should I invest into in this industry" But they want to bet on clear winners. Expect dispersion to get worse; the name of the game is to identify what the crypto Mag7 will be. Resist the temptation to get too creative in the trenches. It's a pretty good time to be one of a thousand Buzz Lightyear.
Seeing Citrini cover LIT DRV and even VAR on Breaking the Wall today feels like a turning point. The signal is that traditional investors are finally starting to value DeFi protocols as revenue-generating businesses. Not memes. Not ponzis. Not even stores of value. Real revenue, real growth, real businesses. My bet is that the marginal buyer of crypto this cycle won't be another crypto native. It'll be the traditional equities investor.
