I really wish #HamOnt was serious about housing reform. Hamilton's low density 4plex zoning maxes out at 10.5m, while Waterloo just approved 13.5m. reducing restrictions to building more housing: bsky.app/profile/philmarfisi…
#HamOnt Today, the @cityofhamilton celebrated National Housing Day. We talk a lot about the need for affordable housing, so I’d like to show you what we have accomplished! Join me as I take you all on a tour of a couple exciting builds across the city! 🏙️ 🏠

The day has arrived.
45 years after pedestrians were first barricaded from crossing the street at Winnipeg’s storied Portage and Main intersection, the concrete walls have finally started coming down.

The Ontario Conservatives have a rich history of transportation policy failures including:
-Filling in an under construction subway
-Selling a massive highway (now worth $30+B for $3B)
And now, tearing out one of the continents best bike networks.

It's wild that Ford is spending Northern Ontarian's money to rip out bike lanes in Toronto.

To all the haters and losers (of which, sadly, there are many) who say "we can't have lifesaving bike lanes in Toronto because we get six months of winter" - it's the end of November, and hundreds of people came out to ride in memory of two cyclists killed by drivers. #bikeTO

Get ready for *a lot* more of this if our dipshit Premier gets his way…

It started out 2 Fridays ago as a meme,
last Friday it became a movement (now with detractors). Apparently around 600,000-400,000 people from all over China on Friday and Saturday night (Oct 8 and 9) came to Zhengzhou and sharebiked from Zhengzhou to Kaifeng to... (a thread)

The cowardice of hiding your faces while feeling emboldened to put forward hateful propaganda in our communities. This is Hamilton, and we will NOT tolerate racist, white-nationalism. Show your faces so you can be held accountable for your actions.

BREAKING: Last night, Kingston Ontario (where I’m working this week) City Council passed a motion supporting the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s call for the Provincial Government to leave decisions on bike-lanes to municipal jurisdiction.
Will YOUR city do the same?

19 weeks off this summer, so no time for debate, apparently.
If only this government moved this quickly on anything that made this province better.
The Ford government is set to limit debate and public hearings on its bike lanes law, claiming there's not enough time left in the current legislative agenda.
The government also delayed the start of the session by a month and a half.

Bloor/Spadina, Nov. 4, 8:34am. Over three minutes I saw 23 vehicles and 25 cyclists, including one parent with baby.
The only congestion was caused by a vehicle. Will @fordnation @PrabSarkaria pass special legislation to take away this person's minivan?

A kW of panels and a few kWh of batteries is enough to:
- refrigerate food
- cook without solid fuels
- provide internet access
- charge an electric bike

Bloor b/w Ave & Spadina) is looking 🔥.
Reconstruction projects are amazing. They realize accessibility, beautification, & operational benefits.
To achieve these outcomes, the road, cycle tracks & sidewalks were rebuilt and catch basins, poles, etc were relocated. #biketo

If I were the city of Toronto I’d simply refuse to comply with this. Let the crews at MTO rip them up. When the first cyclist dies (and they will) point the finger squarely at the province.
BREAKING: Ontario has just proposed regulations that would rip out bike lanes in Toronto on Bloor, University and Yonge:
