For the last 2 months, on behalf of the African Food Fellowship and as a member of the local organizing committee for this year’s Africa Food Systems Forum, I have been coordinating the preparations for a Food Festival that’s part of #AFSForum2026, taking place in Kigali from 31/08 - 04/09/2026. This FoodFestival is the public-facing celebration that extends the conversation about Africa’s food systems beyond the 5000+ Forum delegates from across Africa and the world, to Kigali residents: farmers, food entrepreneurs, chefs, students, traders, producers, creatives, and consumers. The Festival is designed around African food, culture and creativity, bringing together the people, businesses and ideas shaping what Africa eats. There will be chefs and cooking demonstrations, African food businesses and agro-processors, exhibitions, on-stage conversations, TED-style public talks, creativity, music and plenty of opportunities to discover and network with the people behind Africa’s food systems. So if you are planning to be in Kigali around AFSF, this is your opportunity to add the Food Festival to your plans.
