“i will just die in my home i wont go to a nursing home” is an ego preserving way of saying “i will make my eldest daughter juggle unpaid nursing care and being my social world with all her other responsibilities”

I learned to love WFH and never plan to use an office again. I tried one for a while, and it was a disaster for me. I found commuting the biggest time-waster. And I love that my social life is now centered around my community and hobbies, not coworkers.
My strongest “vibes not evidence” belief is that remote work is a cancer that’s making (most) people miserable even though it seems better in the short term.

The only people who think like this are men with a short commute to work who have a partner who takes care of all the house & child responsibilities. Or single men.

A girl just said she tried to get rejected 1000 times in 2025 and ended up being cast in plays, winning pageants, securing hella paid brand deals, and appearing in commercials. This is your sign to chase rejection to the point of "accidental" success. You'll be surprised.

My letter in today's London Free Press Spend it on staff Regarding the article New Ontario team to help LHSC cut ER wait times (Oct. 14) Any attention to the disgraceful state of Ontario’s emergency room wait times is, of course, welcome. However, permit me to introduce of a brief moment of cynicism: It was 2018 when Premier Doug Ford promised to end hallway medicine within a year. In 2020, he stated “we’re doing everything we can to end hallway medicine.” In 2024, he again emphasized he would “step up” to end the abhorrent practice of trying to care for people in hospital hallways, going one step further by stating he would commit sufficient funds to bring emergency wait times down to one hour. Further, resolving the problem means applying the scientific principles to patient flow that have been studied and established during the past 30 years. Forty-one million dollars to reinvent the wheel would go a long way to keep the nurses his government seems so intent on firing, a concept clearly at odds with the goal of reducing wait times. Men are far more emotional than women, they just pretend anger, impatience, boredom, and jealousy are not emotions when experienced by men. So, when men feel these emotions—like if their team loses or a woman writes something online—they insist they are being un-emotional.
Men run on logic. Women run on emotions.

Dear @katiezacharia — speaking as the world's leading expert on short White House tenures: turn off the news and go enjoy your family. In time you’ll realize that the Universe did you a major favor.

Breaking news: the word “Scaramucci” today returns to being a mere surname, not a unit of measure. @Scaramucci
BREAKING: White House press secretary Katie Zacharia is "transitioning out" of her role, a senior White House official tells @pdoocy . President Trump denies firing her, telling reporters, "No no. I want her to have a good life… she’s been brutalized by the media." Trump says he encouraged Zacharia to reconsider staying in the job just minutes before speaking to reporters, telling her, "You don't have to do this if you don't want to." @AmericaRpts

wow. i see that in algoma, but it’s moving to the epicenter of the medical world. horrible.
I work in the ED of a mid-sized hospital, so I was surprised 2 see that even DT Toronto hospitals face similar shortcomings: ONE doc covering the entire acute dept overnight, nursing shortages severe enough 2 close sections of the ED & the ever-present reality of hallway medicine

absolute queen move. the decades of me being on flights with manspreaders and once they take up all the space it being impossible to in any kind of sane way say “hey you are taking up my space jerky” this immediate earring move is absolutely genius. otto. you are the asshole
Met a very passive aggressive passenger on @delta today. Immediately angry about my using the armrest before takeoff. She installed an earring on her sleeve to poke me. I didn’t mind till the turbulence when it stabbed me. I calmly asked her to remove it, she wouldn’t, and told me I was taking up too much of my seat cause I’m a man. 🥵 This legal? Also, how do people get like this?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The woman pictured (@kadiatubman) shared her account of the flight: he repeatedly entered her space and touched her arm despite requests to stop. She placed the earring after. She waited to speak with staff at the gate; he left. x.com/1ts_me_bambi/s… instagram.com/kadiatubman/

Everyone living in Ontario should read this story… it is horrifying. There should be full blown police and Ministry of Health investigations. People need to be held accountable. Nobody should suffer in such circumstances. 👇🏻😢

I am struck by our collective aspiration that the perfect drug will solve a truly complex problem of recovery. People with addiction decide not to start effective meds, or desist from them, based on a real-time computation of what their realistic life opportunities are. The extremely high rate of stopping effective OUD meds should be a signal to us that complex social challenges are not routinely addressable through the pharmaceutical industry
Preliminary evidence suggests GLP-1 drugs may reduce cravings for addictive substances, but stronger evidence is needed to support broader access. We @Arnold_Ventures are proud to fund the most rigorous study ever of effect of GLP-1s on alcohol/opioid use and downstream impacts.

🚨 BREAKING 🚨 It looks like Ford is planning a major sell-off of schools. Through the TDSB, Toronto taxpayers own 612 properties worth $20 billion. Ford changed the rules so his Minister of Education could sell any school to anyone he wants. Ford's TDSB supervisor met twice as often with the TDSB's property management arm as with parents. #OntEd #onpoli

NEW: In his first year running Ontario's largest school board, the Ford government's TDSB supervisor logged more than twice as many meetings with the board's $20B real estate arm than he did with parent groups, calendar entries reveal. The FOI records offer a rare glimpse into the supervisor’s day-to-day work, raising concerns that parents have taken a back seat under provincial supervision. Story: thetrillium.ca/news/educatio…
