Ref balancing was only ever an issue for a single wipe system with a singular PMC to play on. People blew it way out of proportion. Heres why I think the hate for arena and ref makes zero sense: Gear fear & PvP Health If there isnt an accessible way to get competitive gear late wipe without sinking in hours of grinding, you get the current seasonal meta where everyone is terrified to PvP, playing giga cautious, and crab walking the second they hear footsteps. Multiple gear sources make the game more enjoyable for both casuals and sweats. If you want permanently shitty gear, go play DayZ or stalker gamma. Refs Actual Inventory Refs gear is mediocre at best now besides one or two things at max rep, and BSG already added transfer limits and quest locked transfers. His prices got nerfed so hard that an empty Class 3 rig costs equivalent to ~500k roubles. Why grind 4 Arena dailies for mid gear especially when 1 solid raid Icebreaker run gives you 5x better loot anyway and 100k XP? Stress testing Tarkov Complaining that Arena "takes away dev resources" misses the point. You people love to treat game studios like a single guy working on one task at a time. BSG literally uses Arena to stress test netcode changes and Unity engine updates in a controlled environment before pushing them to the main game. We've been on Unity 6 in Arena since March. And they even tested what people would be interested in if Tarkov had a battlepass long before seasons. No one is forcing you to play it. Modes like the reworked Blastgang are genuinely fun with friends if you like Tarkov's gunplay. My friendgroup played daily (even friends who didn't touch main game) until they gutted inertia to cater to casual movement and turned fights into A-D strafe spam. Stop complaining about ratty playstyles while simultaneously crying every time players get a reliable way to gear up and actually PvP. People are still clinging to how the game felt 3-4 years ago and refuse to accept that the game's ecosystem has evolved and it HAS to evolve especially with people either always working towards their next prestige, working on Seasonal PMC achievements and unlocks.
