Somewhat sad.
If the rough average of the polls is right, it means that 2026 will essentially reproduce 2024 voting patterns exactly but just with some turnout tweaks. I.e. nothing has changed. Somewhat amusing.

🤣 I am way too risk averse for this. Imagine what a confidently wrong AI can do when you're trying to get some expenses through SARS.
Initially did my tax returns through TaxTim, then thought I might as well get @Muse to redo it through SARS eFiling for free. It did, and I even got me a tax refund.

If you are a CEO of Formula 1 and have to sit and listen to delegations led by Gayton or Nelly, I believe this was honestly an issue choice. Rwanda is about business, Gayton is about vibes😂😂 Probably he was also trying to also introduce them to a local 30% BEE partner (i.e. PA member) 🤡

Some good questions are raised here about the cost of Rwanda's F1 deal. The deal was confirmed today.
🚨 RWANDA & FORMULA 1: PUT THE NUMBERS SIDE BY SIDE. Rwanda is reportedly preparing to host Formula 1 from 2030 on a new permanent circuit near Bugesera. Before calling this “development”, Rwandans deserve to see what it means in real numbers. The median monthly income of a paid employee in Rwanda is about 39,000 RWF. The average 3-day F1 ticket in 2026 costs $554 — roughly 817,000 RWF. That is about 21 months of median pay just for the ticket — before transport, food or accommodation. Meanwhile, Rwanda’s development needs remain enormous. In PISA 2025, only 8% of Rwandan students reached basic proficiency in mathematics and 13% in science. Rwanda’s HDI is 0.578, ranking 159th globally. UNICEF’s latest analysis shows that Rwanda allocates 1.711 trillion RWF to education, health, social protection and WASH combined. These allocations grew only 4.2% this year — below inflation — while their share of the national budget has fallen from 26.8% to 22% over five years. Now compare that with Formula 1. BBC Sport reported estimates of more than $270 million to build the Rwandan F1 project, plus an annual F1 hosting fee estimated at $15–50 million and around $18 million a year in track maintenance. $270 million is roughly 400 billion RWF. That means the estimated construction cost alone would equal roughly 23% of Rwanda’s entire annual allocation for education, health, social protection and WASH combined. And Rwanda’s 2026/27 budget already relies on nearly 1.97 trillion RWF in external loans. 🌍 This is why the international comparison matters. Malaysia — vastly richer and already equipped with a world-class F1 circuit — decided not to bring its Grand Prix back because doing so would require around $71 million every year, more than twice what its government spends on 20 national sports programmes. The Netherlands is ending its Grand Prix after 2026. France and Germany have also struggled to make their races financially viable. Hosting F1 is prestigious. That does not automatically make it good public investment. So this is not about being “against Formula 1”. It is about priorities and accountability. Before hundreds of millions are committed, Rwanda should publish: • the full construction cost • the annual hosting fee • the amount of public financing and guarantees • projected additional tourists • expected tax revenue • the break-even point • exactly how ordinary Rwandans are expected to benefit If the project truly pays for itself, the numbers should prove it. Until those numbers are public, the risk is obvious: Rwanda could be building one of Africa’s most expensive prestige projects in a country where basic investments in education, health and household incomes remain urgent. Formula 1 may bring global attention for one weekend. The real question is what Rwanda gets for the other 362 days.

1/3 How the DA needs to perform among black voters in JHB After an insane amount of work, and some help, I have now managed to capture party support by race, down to VD level – using the voters roll! (and not the general census data – although that still gives you a strong read). This is the gold standard! However, because it is so much work, I have stopped at 2016. So, I have 2016 (LGE), 2019 (NPE), 2021 (LGE) and 2024 (NPE). This is a nice comparative data set: two LGEs (soon to be three) and two NPEs. And, as luck would have it, 2016 and 2021 are two of the best data sets to have from an opposition point of view: as they represent the peak and trough of opposition LGE performances respectively. Black voters comprise a significant majority of all voters in JHB (around 73% in 2021), so it worth looking at the DA’s performance among them. This graph shows that. The light blue line is the DA’s 2016 performance, the dark blue line the DA’s 2021 performance. The two grey lines – its 2019 and 2024 performance – are just there for reference, it’s the LGEs we concerned with. Along the bottom, from left to right, are all JHB’s VDs and, as you move from left to right, the percentage of black voters in those VDs increases. So the far right is basically 100% homogenous black VDs. Significantly, on the far right is also where the majority of VDs fall (around 67% of all JHB VDs are 75%-100% black). On the vertical axis is the DA’s support. Every greyed out dot represents a VD in a given election, the higher that dot, the better the DA did in it, the further to the right that dot, the higher the percentage of black voters in it. The first thing you can see, is how much better the party performed in 2016: that light blue line is way, way above the dark blue line.

The ANC says it is extremely concerned that the ANC government has increased fuel prices to record-high prices wherein we are now paying over R30 per litre of 95 unleaded petrol & for all grades of diesel (with over 34% of the pump price comprising ANC government’s punitive taxes & levies). The ANC further says it will fight the ANC government on our behalf through something called the ANC Study Group. This is a developing, make believe story.

That’s cute that you think spam callers and texters are going to honour this. Unless there were severe consequences - and assuming you can actually track a spam sms.
We have officially launched the National Opt-Out registry. South Africans can finally breathe a sigh of relief and say goodbye to direct marketers that they don’t want to be contacted by, as well as an end to spam and fraudulent calls, SMSes and Emails.
