BREAKING: John Healey is Andy Burnham's surprise pick as chancellor, emerging as compromise candidate after Ed Miliband and Shabana Mahmood were both tipped.
The former defence secretary - who was a Treasury minister under Gordon Brown - is seen as a safe pair of hands who will do new PM's bidding as chancellor.

Saddened by the passing of Cllr Shanika Mahendran. This pic is us out the cold & dark in winter 2021 before she was even elected, that was her commitment to her community. My thoughts are with her family, friends & her MK labour family.

Last week, I spoke in favour of the Labour Government's National Security (State Threats) Bill).
This legislation gives the Government new powers to tackle hostile activity on behalf of hostile states, including Iran and Russia.
Our Labour Government will always stand up for our national security.
