No words are big enough right now to overcome this empty feeling in the stomach. We were close, really close to another final but it wasn’t enough. We’ve given everything over these last 7 weeks and to fall short is hard to take! I know the expectations are high and rightly so, we’ve been knocking on the door for 8 years now but again are missing that final piece of the jigsaw! That’s where we have to go away, process it and find a way to get better. I’m so proud of the boys and what we have shown throughout this tournament - some tough games and tough environments that we have overcome. Some memories that will stay with us players and I’m sure you fans for a long long time! Going for glory doesn’t always mean you will get it. You have to fight for it, get knocked down, pick yourself up and go again and that’s what we will do, there’s no other way but to keep believing and keeping pushing. Thank you to every single fan that travelled and showed their support in the stadiums. Thank you to every fan back home for believing in us. Thank you to the boys and staff for everything you have given. As always Win or lose, we learn and go again! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🦁

(1)🚨BREAKING: After a seven-year, high-profile legal battle on multiple fronts, Rev. Dr Bernard Randall, supported by the Christian Legal Centre, has secured a legal settlement with Trent College and succeeded in overturning the Church of England’s (CofE) safeguarding blacklisting of him for preaching a sermon on freedom of belief and gender identity. Dr Randall, a former Cambridge University college chaplain, is now free to preach in church again and work in an education setting for the first time in seven years after he and his legal team successfully challenged the ban imposed on him. Had he preached in a CofE place of worship during the past seven years, he could have faced disciplinary action. The sanction followed a sermon he delivered as chaplain of the Derbyshire college in July 2019 in a CofE school, in a CofE chapel, precisely the kind of setting where pupils might reasonably expect to hear orthodox Christian teaching. The sermon encouraged debate and was pastoral and rooted in Anglican belief. It came after the school had invited in the external campaign group Educate and Celebrate, which openly stated its aim to “smash heteronormativity” and to embed Queer Theory throughout the culture of the school. Yet for delivering that sermon, Dr Randall, was treated like a criminal: forced out of the college, reported to Prevent without his knowledge, and blacklisted by the Diocese of Derby as a safeguarding risk. Meanwhile, in the years since, Educate and Celebrate has been quietly closed down by the Charity Commission following a series of scandals, including one of its patrons committing multiple sex offences against children. Many pastors carry a pressure unlike anything else in history. The temptation to compare, to innovate, to keep up, to launch a podcast, to preach at a certain level, to grow the church, and to produce visible results are just a few. So many begin to feel like failures, questioning whether the ordinary means of grace can really accomplish what today’s demands require. Christ never called pastors to be celebrities, brands, or ministry entrepreneurs. He called them to be faithful shepherds. The Word preached, the sacraments administered, prayer offered, and people loved may seem ordinary in a world obsessed with metrics and platforms, but God has always delighted to work through what appears weak and unimpressive. The pressure to produce what only God can give is crushing. Results belong to Him. We plant, water, but God gives the growth (1 Cor 3:6). Pray for pastors today!

Never underestimate the powerful ministry of presence. Pastors worry too much about having the right words to say. Instead of seeing the best way to care for a hurting person might be to simply sit, be still with them, and listen.

The Anxious Generation was published two years ago today, in a very different world. Back then, the most common objection I got was resignation: "The train has left the station." "You can't put toothpaste back in the tube." "It's how the kids connect today." Today, the world looks very different. It turns out that if our kids were all on a train and we learned it was heading toward a collapsed bridge, we'd find a way to stop it and bring them safely back to the station. That’s what’s happening now. After the historic verdicts in Los Angeles and New Mexico, today is a great day to reflect on the capacity of people in democratic societies to take action, even when opposing some of the most powerful corporations in history. We're getting access to the courts. We're getting phone-free schools. We're seeing whole neighborhoods letting kids out to play, unsupervised, which is what we older folk all remember as the best part of childhood. So I want to recognize: --The mothers (and, right behind them, fathers) who rose up by the millions and powered the movement. --The farsighted governors and legislators in red states and blue states who have been innovating on policy solutions. --The leaders of a dozen of nations, who are raising the age to 16 for opening social media accounts (with a special shoutout to Australia, for going first). --The teachers and school administrators who had their classrooms disrupted for 15 years, and who are now eager to think through new solutions as screens have taken over and obstructed learning. --The grassroots organizations who have been dedicating their efforts to advocate for all of the above in their local communities. --The millions of members of Gen Z who have been rising up, demanding agency over how they spend their lives in the digital era, and finding better ways to connect in real life. And one final group: the survivor parents--the ones you saw in those pictures of people embracing on the front steps of the LA courthouse. I have met many over the years. I am in awe of their courage and tenacity, their willingness to tell their stories of loss, over and over again, to different audiences, in the hope that no other parent would have to endure what they have endured. At long last, juries and legislatures are hearing you, and are acting. Together, we are calling the train back to the station. Together, we are rolling back the phone based childhood and reclaiming life in the real world. The work continues. If you’re not already involved, join us: anxiousgeneration.com/join

If Scripture says that no one does good, are the good deeds of unbelievers really good at all? It is a question that surfaces regularly—in theological debate, in pastoral conversations, and often quietly in the conscience of many thoughtful Christians. achalmersblog.com/2026/01/23…

Over 50 pastors from across Johannesburg have come together to consider how to persevere in pastoral ministry. Our prayer is that these men will be encouraged and equipped to thrive in their ministries so their churches might flourish, even in hard places.
