This post is long overdue: After Musk's incendiary remarks against Fauci a while back, I've decided to stop using Twitter. Find me over on Mastodon, see my profile for my user name over there (it's just my name and I'm currently on fediscience).

I now also have an account at Mastodon. I am probably not going to use it much for the time being.

Over 1 million people have joined Mastodon since October 27. Between that and those who returned to their old accounts, the number of active users has risen to over 1.6 million today, which, for context, is over 3 times what it was just about two weeks ago!
I moved to Mastodon a week ago. Find me at @andreashandel@fediscience.org So far so good. Consider joining us over there. This post was very helpful: blog.djnavarro.net/posts/202…

The response to this was massive & my #Mastodon has gone from a quiet void to a science party in just 3 days!

Ok so I followed the cool kids like @andrewheiss, @CT_Bergstrom and @ChelseaParlett and crated a Mastodon account: andreashandel@fediscience.org

👋 Hi y’all, I wanted to announce that I’m hoping to recruit PhD students (for Fall 2023) and a post-doc (anytime). Please DM/email me if you’re at all interested. The projects will be flexible as long as they relate to infectious disease modeling and/or forecasting.
As a frequent LOR writer I can confirm that this is good advice. And don't worry about it not being "honest" if you pre-draft. If I don't agree with or like something in the draft, I have no problem editing it into something I can add my signature to 😁

Yes, it's really happening
Gonna start a conference called #NormIPS that’s just presentations of middlebrow ML topics. “how to structure Python packages 2022”, “how many k-folds is too many”, “how to make the browser pop-up come up when the notebook is done running”, “putting features in Postgres”, etc.
