My warning about the sale of IDBI Bank to Canada’s Fairfax now takes on an even more disturbing dimension. Businessworld’s explosive report reveals a bizarre turn: after Fairfax’s initial bid of Rs. 75 per share fell short of the original reserve price of Rs. 94.42 fixed by Govt, the methodology was revisited and Fairfax’s revised bid of Rs. 81 was accepted - after reducing the reserve price to Rs. 75.99!. This time, Govt also agreed to indemnify IDBI's disputed income tax liability, with potential additional exposure alone amounting to hundreds of crores. To justify accepting less than the original minimum price, the Government reportedly invoked an unusual precedent: the Railway Stores Code for auctioning scrap which states "Bids lower than the reserve prices may, however, be accepted by the Depot Officer where found expedient provided the Depot Officer doing so records his reasons in writing" - to help justify the sale of a strategic public bank!! Since when is a national banking asset to be treated like railway scrap? Who changed the rules, why, and in whose interest - and at what cost to the public? Worse, the internal note reportedly cited weak FDI inflows, currency pressures and treasury strain to justify the sale on reduced rates - even as the Finance Minister publicly defends India’s economic fundamentals and official figures report record gross FDI inflows. @palakshahjourno @BWBusinessworld @IdbiFor #IDBIBank #IDBISaleScam businessworld.in/article/sen…
While the entire country is engulfed in the SIR controversy and the crisis surrounding the CEC, is the Government practising the political equivalent of “പുര കത്തുമ്പോൾ വാഴ വെട്ടുക” - exploiting a national distraction to push through a momentous decision affecting India’s banking sovereignty, in the hope that it will escape public scrutiny? In my June 2026 letter to the Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, I flagged my serious concerns over Fairfax’s bid for IDBI Bank. The Cabinet has now cleared the sale of a 60.72% stake to the Fairfax Group for Rs. 52,878 crore, with a possible merger with CSB Bank, already under Fairfax’s control, reportedly in the offing. Parliament was assured that Government ownership of IDBI would never fall below 51%. What happened to that solemn commitment? With over 20,000 employees and the future of social-reservation safeguards and public banking at stake, this sale is far more than disinvestment. It signals the ‘foreignisation of Indian banking’. India’s banks weathered the 2008 global financial crisis, protected by safeguards against excessive foreign control and speculative exposure. That resilience is now being eroded. CSB’s experience under foreign control offers a troubling warning: its permanent workforce reportedly plunged from 2,906 in 2015 to just 906, while contract staffing surged. Lending to agriculture, education, housing and small businesses reportedly declined as corporate exposure grew. Foreignisation threatens not only financial sovereignty, but also regular employment opportunities, reservation in recruitment, and the very purpose of social banking. #Bankprivatisation #IDBIBank #StopIDBIPrivatisation

There is an American tech YouTuber called Jerry Rigs Everything. Most of his videos are about him taking apart devices, understanding how they work etc. He has 10.2 million subscribers In 2005 his wife had a horse riding accident as a result of which she was paralyzed waist down. She now required a wheel chair to move about All high quality outdoor wheelchairs that he tested costed upwards of $20,000 Considering he was a tech Youtuber with some fame he could have simply called one company to get one for free. He didn't do that Like he does on his channel, he took apart a wheelchair, understood its components and then built one on his own He then decided to sell them in public for $999. He called it the Paradox Thanks to him, most of us can have access to high mobility, all terrain wheelchairs. This is what tech Youtubers abroad do. They actually make a difference Meanwhile Our guys haven't yet gone past, "Arre Bhai, Yeh dekho Apple ka agla amazing phone, Isme aapko milta hai 3 camera aur ek screen. See how I am drooling on this packaging and colour" with some pathetically click baity thumbnails

Indian history and society is shaped by money lenders. Quite eye opening when you think about it. The reasons why Brits took over: They paid their debts. The Indian rulers tried to shortchange their lenders. Lenders just want their interest.

Frequently i write about practices in the health insurance sector, particularly regarding Care Health Insurance. Recently, a patient with severe aortic stenosis consulted me. We provided an estimated procedure cost of approximately ₹7 lakh. The patient has a base mediclaim policy of ₹5 lakh along with a ₹45 lakh top-up cover. Because Care Health Insurance often disburses less than the sanctioned amount to our patients and doesn't pay if there is any complications ,we routinely ask for an upfront deposit. Now, the insurer is actively steering the patient toward a large corporate facility like Kokilaben Hospital, where the exact same surgery will likely cost at least ₹12- 15 lakh. When the procedure could be completed safely for ₹7 lakh, why is the insurer willing to pay upwards of ₹15 lakh to a corporate hospital?( same valve , same sutures , same outcome , only big hospital) Who ultimately absorbs this inflated cost? Policyholders do, through steadily climbing premiums. This is precisely why I continue to raise this issue: the growing nexus between insurance companies and large corporate chains threatens to eliminate smaller nursing homes and standalone hospitals—and policyholders are left paying the price. Remember - I am writing again - slowly all small hospitals and Nursing home will close down - only large corporate hospitals will survive and your mediclaim premium will be exorbitantly high .

To continue my fight for life, I urgently need ongoing chemotherapy and a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). The estimated cost of my treatment is approximately ₹25,00,000 (₹25 lakhs), which is a huge financial burden for my family. So far, we have managed to arrange ₹3,43,000 through the support of various trusts and ₹1,00,000 from our loved ones, bringing the total support received to ₹4,43,000. Despite these efforts, we still need approximately ₹20,00,000 to meet the remaining treatment expenses. I am the only earning member of my family and work in a private company. Unfortunately, due to my illness and inability to work, my salary has been stopped, leaving my family in an extremely difficult financial situation. Along with fighting this life-threatening disease, we are struggling to arrange the funds needed for my treatment. With hope in our hearts, we humbly request your kindness, generosity, and support during this critical time. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference and bring me one step closer to receiving the treatment I urgently need. 🙏 I sincerely request you to please come forward and help me in this fight against blood cancer. " Indian Reserves are not a war chest. They're a powder keg" " Equity Markets don't owe you anything: a profit; a return of your capital. And definitely not a Return on your capital. They don't you a living. But they have made excellent livings for all the folks involved in selling equity products to small investors. " " Equities aren't for the masses. Returns are sparse for years, volatile , sudden and sporadic, little predictability. Hence, they are meant ONLY for the Classy". " I have always believed and said that stock market isn't for general janata/ awaam. It's a game for pros, and should remain with pros or with people already wealthy through other means" " It's time the Govt. belled the MF equity cat: Govt is disincentivising Gold because it's a drain on FX. Well, we import around $60 billion of gold pa. And through SIPs, we have allowed knife through butter exits to Foreign Capital of around $50 billion last 12 months, around $80 billion last 24 months. Both gold and SIPs are resulting in massive similar dollar outflows so penalise ONLY gold?" " In my recent article in Business Standard, I analysed that in 35 years since 1991, our external resilience percentile rank has moved from 42 to 45. It's a tragedy that we still exhibit every characteristic of a classic Emerging Market: extreme dollar shortage, crashing currency, rising rates, firefighting at any global crisis " My interview to Mint today.

Scientists found a way to flush Alzheimer’s plaque out of the brain in minutes. Without any surgery and drugs. Your brain has a waste-clearance network called the glymphatic system. It flushes out toxic proteins and dead cells. But it only really activates during deep, slow-wave sleep. If you don't sleep, the trash piles up. Over time, that buildup leads to cognitive decline and Alzheimer's. Until today. Researchers just published a paper proving they can manually trigger this cleaning cycle. Without you ever going to sleep. They used 40.68 MHz ultrashort waves (USW) beamed non-invasively into the brain. Within 10 minutes, the brain's fluid flow rapidly accelerated. The waves artificially synchronized the neurons into a Delta state, the exact frequency of deep sleep. This forced the brain's water channels to open and start flushing out the system. They tested it on mice with traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer's pathology. The brain swelling dropped. The toxic proteins were cleared out. Cognitive deficits actually improved. No surgery. No massive chemical interventions. Just a frequency.

Few observations over the last year about our beloved country and I wish over next one year things become better with blessings of the divine Mother Goddess! Nothing is new but continuing at same pace or with more brazenness. 1) Barring top 10% - 15% people, everyone else is suffering from inflation, unemployment, poor salary, insecurity, climate crises and economic stress. A large section is surviving on govt hand outs and its unsustainable. 2) Seems society and govt of all denominations lost control over corruption and extractive, high-handed, uncontrolled, arbitrary exercise of power by all types of govt and semi govt agencies and officers. Whosoever has any means to exploit or harass the people, doing it with impunity. The desperation is noticeable. It is almost impossible to prove as the web is very intricate and impenetrable. Also justice is expensive and prohibitive in India. Individuals fear they will be targeted if complain. So tolerate and bear.... 3) People who can make their voices heard look at everything from their political bias. Overt or covert. I have never in life seen Indian society so polarized and so parochial in their approach to looking at truth. 4) We stopped debating issues long back and attacking the person than addressing the issue is the norm over many years now. Over the years it took two forms --- aggressive countering or total withdrawal. Middle space for reconciliation disappeared. Unless we restore it, we all will be in danger! No political party or ideology or economy can survive a fractured society. 5) Uncouth, crude, crass, idiotic, hyper aggressive, uninformed loud behaviour and language is the arsenal to combat in most public spaces including social media --- not reason, argument, respect, propriety and anchoring oneself to basic truthfulness to facts. Are we collectively evolving or degenerating? Can we expect a better time ahead........ ???!! I earnestly pray !! 🙏

Good news, India. Our trade deal is almost done. How do we know? Not from Parliament. Not from our own govt. We heard it from a visiting American Secretary of State at a press conference in Mumbai. He also had updates on which crude we are ready to refine, how pleased Washington is with where we buy our oil, and which American defence systems we should be buying next. Very thorough briefing. Our govt could take notes. At this rate the next Budget may be announced at a US press briefing, with our Finance Minister invited as a special guest. A trade deal decides the price farmers get for their crops, the margin of a small manufacturer and the cost of fuel for every family. These are not details a nation should learn from a foreign minister's travel diary. Will the Prime Minister tell Parliament what India is giving and what it is getting before he signs?

The more religious a country is, the more hypocritical it is: the less educated it is, the higher its birth rate, the poorer it is, and the unhappier it is. Just look at the list of the happiest countries in the world - Finland, one of the most secular and atheist countries, where people hardly follow religion, has topped the list for the seventh time. Number-1 Those people are going to work, enjoying their lives with their families. Australia is not too bad. People here also don't follow religion that much. Australia came 15th on the list. Now look at our great India. We came 116th. We were trying to top the list from the bottom. Poverty, hunger, income, human development, happiness. We’re near the bottom in almost everything. Millions of people still don’t even make 100 rupees a day. And we still think the solution is more religion: We've found God in everything - God in trees, God in rivers, God in mountains, God in lions, God in elephants, God in monkeys, God in parents, God in teachers. Only children were left. Children are also considered a form of God. Then which God is left unhappy? Use some common sense. Faith has its own place. Whatever religion you were born into, follow it. We've been kept tangled in religious things from the beginning so that whenever you're in trouble, instead of knocking on the right door, you knock on God's door. I mean, seriously! 🤦‍♂️

This story will sound like a joke but it is not. -A teacher in MP was disappointed by bad condition of village school. -He used his own money to paint it, put some furniture in dining space, cleaned it. -brought a smart board. Gave some stationary to students. -brought 2 retired people to teach students for free. -also brought 2 other teachers & paid them from his pocket. -school enrolment increased, kids left private schools to study here. -kids from nearby villages also came. -Education Department transferred the teacher. -angry villagers protested on highway against his transfer. -he had to leave. Kids cried, everyone sad. -retired teachers were also removed. -kids started leaving school. -villagers protested again at collectorate to bring back that teacher. -Edu Dept gave show cause notice to the teacher asking him if he really used his own money? Who gave him permission. -Also asked him how he hired other teachers w/o permission. -asked if he has given stationary to kids, where did he get the funds? -warned him to reply to the notice to avoid the disciplinary action.

Markets Will Give One Golden Exit (a) Markets are perverse; they exist to trap people (b) Black Swan Nassim Taleb: Mkts at most fragile point in 20 yrs (c) JPM: Indian large caps world’s most liquid hedge as AI risks rise (d) What should investors do? India: World’s Largest AI Hedge a. Size & Liquidity: JP Morgan says Indian large caps are emerging as the world’s largest liquid “AI hedge,” as global AI trade risks rise. With India’s high domestic liquidity (SIP inflows), FIIs can exit or enter the market without distorting prices. No other non-AI market offers this liquidity & scale. b. AI Concentration Risks: In the first half of 2026, JP Morgan and others had downgraded India to Neutral due to booming AI & semiconductor trade. Now that narrative is getting slightly diluted as global investors seek some hedge & diversification against potential AI bust. The Mother of All Bubbles a. Universa founder Mark Spitznagel is the ultimate black swan investor and a protégé (disciple) of Nassim Taleb (author of Black Swan). Taleb is the “Distinguished Scientist” at Universa. b. Black Swan Events: Universa made billions for investors during 2008 and 2020 crashes, but it is not a perma-bear. It has been extremely bullish for the last 4 years, making money on the way up as AI bubble inflates. c. Face-Ripping Rally Ahead: Universa says bears like Michael Burry are right about the coming AI bust, but they are going to get the timing wrong. “There is still one more really insane rally to come across equities.” d. Greatest Bubble in History: In Jan 2026, Universa wrote to its investors that we are witnessing the “greatest bubble in human history.” This bubble arose from years of zero-interest rate policies and unlimited Fed money printing. The bubble is “now in the final stages, unfolding right on schedule as data shows. It will end in a historic bust that is logically to follow.” What Should Retail Investors Do? Sophisticated hedge funds like Universa play both boom & bust. Their annualized returns to investors from 2021 to 2026 are above 100%. Copying their playbook is tough for individual investors. The best thing you can do is: a. Exit partially while market is still giving you a chance, and diversify into fixed income & gold. OR: Sell mid/small caps and move into high quality large caps to bullet-proof your portfolio. Same also applies to MF/SIP schemes. b. Corporate Governance Risks: Every mid/smallcap company now claims they are defence & engineering specialists. When the tide goes out, you will know who all were swimming naked. c. IPOs are falsely inflated to give exit to private equity. Avoid them even if they are excellent companies. They will lose 50% when a crash occurs. d. Due to leverage, many small/midcaps will become available at liquidation values when there is blood on the streets. That’s when you enter them. (Tip from: Oct 12 concall of Nimesh Shah, MD, ICICI Pru AMC) Endquote: Thanksgiving Is Coming “A turkey is fed by the farmer every day. With every single feeding, the bird becomes increasingly confident and fat. On the day before Thanksgiving, something “unexpected” will happen to the turkey. It will lead to a revision of belief.” “The feeling of safety peaks when the risk is at the highest.” – Dr. Nassem Taleb, The Black Swan @arabicatrader

Out of IDBI Bank’s total NPAs of ₹45,000 crore, defaulters accounting for ₹14,500 crore are known to the public. These are Kingfisher Airlines, ABG Shipyard, Winsome Diamonds, and the Videocon Group. The remaining defaulters, accounting for ₹30,000 crore, remain anonymous. The entire ₹45,000 crore is written off by IDBI Bank, and 8–9 years after capital infusion, the bank is sold to a private entity. The entire exercise by the government looks like a cover-up operation to save anonymous defaulters.
