I published my first engineering case study today. It breaks down how I built the AI clipping system behind ByteCap’s Magic Clips. What looks like “upload a long video and get short clips” ended up being a pretty interesting engineering problem. I wrote about how I approached: • finding and ranking moments across long videos • combining transcripts, audio, scene changes and visual signals • face and person tracking for automatic 9:16 reframing • moving computer vision workloads from Google Video Intelligence to self hosted infrastructure as costs grew • handling FFmpeg jobs, concurrency, cancellation and failures in production • turning the final result into an editable video project I’ve spent years building software, but I haven’t done a great job of writing about the engineering behind it. I’m going to change that and publish more of these. First one is here alimansour.com/engineering/a…

The more I build software, the more I realize a good product does a lot of the marketing for you. You still have to get it in front of people. But when people actually like using what you built, a little marketing goes a lot further.

Hot take.. companies replacing devs with AI are gonna realize they just traded salary costs for insane compute bills lol

Agreed. The opportunity is real. Just automate it. AI tools like Bytecap can handle the clipping, captions, and cross publishing so you can actually scale.
rest in peace to working for someone else $3000 per month is only $100 daily clipping will get you faster there than any thing you could think of. your job is simple… download long form content (youtube videos, streams, podcasts) of other people. create 2-3 accounts on instagram, tiktok and youtube shorts. find the best moments from those long videos and turn them into engaging short clips. post 2-3 times per day on each account. if you’re getting decent views, every video could earn you $10-30. because your getting paid $1-$3 for every 1k views you generate. the best thing about it? you can post as much you want, from as many accounts you can. making more than a doctor by literally spamming short clips from your phone.

Repurposing is one of the highest ROI things a creator can do. AI just removes the hours of scrubbing through footage and editing every clip.

half this clipping industry's reputation is being ruined by agency owners who just don't pay their clippers i've lost count of how many are in my dms about someone who owes them money and went quiet these are the people doing ur fulfilment, they're the reason ur paycheck even exists and u still treat them as disposable? i've been talking to my clippers directly a lot lately didnt hire a random VA to manage the community like most do me and the difference in how they respond to that is night and day - they don't respect you cause you're the owner, they respect u when they can see u doing the work with them pay ur people on time and talk to them - somehow that's rare

Nothing kills trust faster than hiding the cancel button behind support emails or retention flows. At Bytecap, it’s one click. If you want to leave, you should be able to leave.
Don't get TRAPPED paying for subscriptions you don't want anymore.

"Clipping," the practice of cutting up a creator's content, adding captions, and reposting it across social media, is quietly becoming a massiverindustry.
