l love this , No sentimental treatment of an errant son. It follows the logic of a Yoruba saying: “Ọmọ yìí, má pa mí oooo…” — you plead with the child at the beginning. But when pleading and cautioning have failed, the tone changes: “Ọmọ yìí, má pa ara rẹ ooo!” And when the child still refuses to listen, what follows is simply: “Tó bá máa kú, kú ooo!” At some point, you stop begging and allow the consequences of one’s choices to take their course. Oníkálukú wá ayé ara rẹ̀ lò tó. Everyone has come into this world to live their own life and must ultimately take responsibility for their choices.

Awon Iroko Meta ….
Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of @DrObafemiHamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State. A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago. My experience of his character over the years has been defined by his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles… F.Ote💲

How bitterness can unravel a man’s legacy! For many Nigerians in their late 40s and 50s, who grew up seeing you as one of the great minds of this nation, your recent interventions have become a source of profound disappointment. I only began paying closer attention to you a few years ago, always eager to understand your perspectives and submissions on serious national issues. But increasingly, I find the same old narratives: “I was in a room in Kuala Lumpur… I was coming from Atlanta… We were discussing in London… When I returned from grad school… We had hoped in the ’80s…” Baba, nostalgia is not a substitute for fresh ideas, and name-dropping is not the same as intellectual depth. Now, you are talking about CIVIL WAR because of the conversations of about 15 people at a lunch in Manchester? Are you seriously suggesting that the determination of a handful of people outside Nigeria to resist electoral malpractice is a credible basis for predicting civil war? Do you know that, even yesterday, people were gathering across several wards in Nigeria, strategising and organising on how to campaign for the APC? Or do those conversations not count because they do not fit your preferred narrative? And back to the main issue: anyone thinking clearly knows that Tinubu does not necessarily need to rig the 2027 election to win it. Whether he will win is ultimately for Nigerians to decide at the ballot box, but there are political realities, structures and metrics that his supporters believe work in his favour. You may disagree with his politics, and you are entitled to your opinion. But there is a difference between warning Nigerians about electoral malpractice and stoking fears of civil war. We need intellectuals who offer solutions, not prominent voices who turn every political disagreement into an apocalyptic prophecy. Baba Pupa, ẹ sọra yín oooo! 👀🤷🏽‍♂️
I am in the middle of an accidental town hall meeting in Manchester in the UK. I came to a Lunch to which Peter Obi was invited. I found food I looked forward to deferred for questions on the trouble with Nigeria. Many of the questions suggest worry about the boldness of public officials in projecting rigging with results of elections of 2027 considered in the pocket. They were energized to ask for how they could own fighting rigging. The determination to do whatever will prevent election malpractice suggest we may see a civil war if power tries to muscle the will of the people this time.

For those who are not old enough, everything that Pat Utomi built his media presence on & constantly regurgitated with members of 'The Patito's Gang' TV show are the policies that the current president is carrying out. Here is a video from just 10 years ago of Professor Utomi. You can search the web for more media materials to know what he built his reputation on. This new found love for populist political talking point is something we would expect from a Dino - not any member of Patito's gang. But such is their nature of our politics, that our principles are not as important as our access to political power.
A litre of fuel in Libya costs ₦32, while the minimum wage in the country is $208, which is roughly ₦276,000. In Saudi Arabia, a litre of fuel costs approximately ₦823, while the estimated monthly minimum wage is ₦1.4 million. Norway, another oil-producing country, provides its citizens with numerous benefits funded by the proceeds from its oil revenues. In Nigeria, however, the minimum wage is ₦70,000, while a litre of fuel costs between ₦1,300 and ₦1,900 in some places. That minimum wage amounts to a mere $52, a young chap flipping burgers at McDonald's in the US makes more than a Nigerian bank manager. Anyone earning ₦100,000 a month in Nigeria is still struggling to make ends meet and may be closer to the poverty line than their counterparts in these countries. But does the President care? How does he even sleep at night, knowing that millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive in a country blessed with abundant natural resources?

You see, the man was talking about fundamentals here 10 years ago, but somehow his emotions have clouded his judgement. Shame.…

Selling fake drinks is akin to administering small doses of poison to individuals, gradually damaging their kidneys and livers and ultimately killing them. Trade Fair Market has become an assault ground where Nigerians are being exposed to dangerous doses of poison intended to destroy their health and take their lives. This is an act of terrorism against Nigerians, and aiding and abetting it is also a crime. The government has a responsibility to protect vulnerable Nigerian citizens from these killers. Shut down the market, comb the entire environment, and obtain a firm undertaking that fake drinks will no longer be manufactured or sold there before considering reopening it. The market leadership has the capacity and responsibility to ensure compliance.

Shut down the entire market, make them take responsibility, and have them sign an undertaking to ban fake drinks in the market. The Market Exco knows who is carrying out the nefarious activities in the market. They should first declare war on themselves. Make dem no damage everyone kidney finish..
NAFDAC Uncovers Counterfeit Alcohol Operation at Lagos International Trade Fair Complex Today, operatives from NAFDAC's Investigation & Enforcement (I&E) Directorate raided the International Trade Fair Complex in Lagos, uncovering a large-scale counterfeit alcoholic beverage operation concealed within makeshift parking stores on the premises. The enforcement action was executed on the basis of credible intelligence and resulted in the discovery of more than 20 illegal stores engaged in criminal operations within the complex. Officers found suspects in the process of blending and counterfeiting popular alcoholic beverage brands, revalidating expired and unsafe beverages for resale, and stockpiling banned imported products. Two suspects were apprehended, and products seized and evacuated are valued at over ₦2 billion. The Agency urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious manufacturing, revalidation, or sales activity through NAFDAC's official complaints line: 0800-1-NAFDAC (0800-1-623322).

The Federal Government of Nigeria is quietly building a massive "circular" concrete road network across the country. Most people are only tracking the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. But that’s just 1 out of 4 massive, simultaneous projects designed to unlock agro-industrialization at scale. This changes everything. Let me explain 👇 1/

If you map out the 4 Legacy Road Projects currently underway, they form a deliberate ring around the country: 1️⃣ Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway (750km) 2️⃣ Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway (1,000km) 3️⃣ Calabar-Abuja Trans-Sahara Highway (477km) 4️⃣ Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Maiduguri Expressway (Now 700km+, as at May 2026)

From day one, the Coastal Highway has evolved based on field realities—from avoiding critical subsea cables to rerouting sections along the first 37 km in Lagos to protect key infrastructure. In mega-projects of this scale, multiple realignments and redesigns aren't flaws; they are standard engineering practice. The route adapts as ground data emerges. The real question isn't whether the route adjusts; it’s whether construction continues.

Is the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway cancelled? NO. Abi, what is the essence of blindly sticking to a map line that leads to failed roads?
