Delighted to invite UK-based early career fibrosis researchers to the 2025 UK ILD early career investigator network meeting. Generous financial support from Boehringer Ingelheim (no input to agenda) means it's free, with food and accomodation included. We have great speakers1/2

Here's another blog post from @MarthaOld1 about her experience working at @ImperialNHLI with @alisonejohn, on a BALR/@ActionPFcharity summer studentship balr.co.uk/post/balr-apf-sum…
Working in London does have some unexpected benefits. Time to return to the classroom @LondonWelshCCLL , brush up on my Welsh language skills and get to know a whole Welsh speaking community in the middle of London. Operation “be a fluent Welsh speaker” is finally underway. 🏴

New paper! we used machine learning to classify people with pulmonary fibrosis based on a blood-biomarker panel and found 3 distinct profiles: clinical differences, stable classes, and supported in Oz registry!
New: Cluster analysis of blood biomarkers to identify molecular patterns in #pulmonaryfibrosis
These findings support the presence of pulmonary fibrosis endotypes with the potential to guide targeted therapy development

I don’t get to be in the lab all that often these days but having lots of MSc students is a good reason to get back in there and check I haven’t lost all my lab skills 🤣. It’s also a great reminder of just how much fun it is to work in a busy lab ! #PIinthelab #MTWCentre

Right now, most long-term lung conditions are detected when there is irreversible damage to the lungs. Being able to intervene before the damage is permanent is crucial and only possible if we #FundRespiratoryResearch: bit.ly/3UtpBTj
Another fantastic day of lung science comes to a close in Dundee but there’s still time for the BALR committee to show the world just how talented they are 🤣 @BALRcommunity

APF is happy to announce the investment in 2 research fellows! Dr @KevinBinLiu1 from @imperialcollege & Dr @Jennydickens41 from @Cambridge_Uni have been awarded £600k to further unravel the genetics of PF, which'll help to identify new & better treatments: bit.ly/3PKLKuP

ALT An infographic explaining that less than 2% of public funding is invested into respiratory research.

ALT An image of Dr Bin (Kevin) Liu with a quote: 'My research focuses on the role that scaffold proteins play in the development and progression of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). I hope that insights gained during my fellowship will have the potential to shed new light on the complex biological processes that become altered in people with PF and to identify new treatments.’
