USDA just effectively gutted REAP, one of the most popular tools farmers have to cut energy costs. Iowa Farmers Union’s Matt Russell: walking away from these “win-win-win investments is very disappointing.” Read here: grist.org/food-and-agricultu…

And at the same time, USDA is issuing a $3.3 billion loan to build a new natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, GA. Billions for gas while cutting farmers off from solar that lowers their bills. yahoo.com/news/us/articles/3…

The permitting certainty language negotiated in the U.S. Senate is incredibly strong and provides the industry ample protections against future unwarranted permitting delays. The bill is exactly the kind of bipartisan action America needs to meet growing energy demand, put downward pressure on energy prices, and deploy more affordable, reliable solar and storage for American families and businesses. SEIA is grateful for this landmark legislation and we support efforts by Senators to ensure government agencies treat solar energy and other forms of energy generation fairly during the permitting process.

EPW Chair Capito leads off the permitting reform presser, touting the "Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026," which she calls a "historic bipartisan agreement to reform America's federal environmental review and permitting processes."

A federal judge ruled today that EPA's termination of the $7B Solar for All program was unlawful. Congress rescinded only unobligated funds, so EPA had no authority to end the program. The court vacated the termination.

What does it mean to “protect farmland” if the farmer can’t afford to keep farming it? Solar isn’t the whole story here. Farm viability, landowner choice, and who gets to decide what happens to rural land deserve a larger share of this conversation. New op ed in the Times Union today. Give it a read. I’d love to hear what you think. timesunion.com/opinion/artic…

When PJM neared its peak demand record, they declared an energy emergency. Texas has blown past its pre-2026 record 7 times this month, incl. today. No emergencies, not even close. The difference? Solar. New record in Texas today: 1st time >35,000 megawatts #txlege #txenergy

After years serving Minnesota, I just started a new job: President & CEO of @SEIA. I chose this role for two reasons: 1) Energy demand is rising rapidly and meeting it is critical to American leadership; 2) Solar + storage are essential to doing so affordably and reliably

As farmers choose solar to support operations and boost income, @SEIA's new map puts solar energy’s land use into perspective. Suburban sprawl uses 6x more farmland than solar and golf courses use nearly 3x more. seia.org/news/new-map-shows-…
