Canadians confuse the rest of the world by sounding like Americans, writing like Brits, and throwing in just enough French to freak everyone out

They still don't understand Gen X in the workplace.
We don't want free pizza parties.
We don't want mandatory team-building retreats.
We don't want motivational speeches about being a family.
And we definitely don't want another company-branded coffee mug.
You know what we want?
💰 Pay us what we're worth.
🏖️ Let us take our vacation days without guilt.
🏡 Respect our time outside of work.
🤝 Trust us to do the job we were hired to do.
📵 Stop expecting us to be available 24/7.
We're not looking for an office to become our second home. We have lives, families, responsibilities, and better things to do than pretend a pizza party makes up for being underpaid and overworked.
Pay us fairly, respect our boundaries, and let us get on with our lives.
That's the perk. That's the culture. That's it. 😂

Designed my first RF diplexer in 1993 on a VAX minicomputer. Tens of millions of my plug-in filters ended up in cable HFC amplifiers and fiber nodes.
Now I’m giving the tool away: VektorFIL, free and open source. Butterworth to elliptic, coupled resonators, diplexers. Real synthesis, live schematic.

Another way to think about Trump announcement today: If he increased US diesel imports from Canada by 4%, he would gain as much fuel as from this Russia deal. But the Canadians are global super-villains, so who wants to buy from them when you could enrich Putin instead?

Jean Chretian with an absolutely masterful speech.
This is leadership. This is Canada.
I am very proud of my country, who we are, and what we stand for. We are not perfect, but there is no place I'd rather be.
Thank you Canada for being you!

This is ridiculous. These are terms you ask for from an enemy after defeating them in a world war.
That is how the USA now treats its 'allies'. And that is why every country in its right mind wants out of the relationship.

Responding to the attack, President Zelensky said:
“The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil.
We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones.”

This is the smartest thing I've seen today.
This metal tag can be used to track if you opened a door, used a toilet and left without washing your hands. No electronics required.
Seriously tho, this can drastically reduce the cost and hassle of IoT

I’ve realised the problem isn’t that people don’t have access to evidence.
It’s that evidence is competing against stories that are simpler, more emotional, and easier to remember.
For years I’ve spent my time explaining technologies: pesticides, GMOs, vaccines, chemicals, toxicology and risk.
But knowing the science isn’t enough.
If we can’t communicate it clearly, misinformation wins by default.
So I’m going to spend more time sharing something I’ve learned after years of engaging online:
How to communicate science.
Not just what the evidence says.
But why people reject it.
Why some explanations work while others fail.
How to simplify complex ideas without oversimplifying them.
Because science only changes minds when people understand it.
If you’re a scientist, engineer, doctor, teacher or anyone who cares about evidence follow me, I hope you’ll find something useful here.

IF I GET DEMENTIA…..
I’d like my family to hang this wish list up on the wall where I live. I want them to remember these things.
1a. Every time you enter the room announce yourself. “Hi Dad - it’s Amanda.”
NEVER ask- Do you know who I am??? That causes anxiety.
• If I get dementia, I want my friends and family to embrace my reality.
• If I think my spouse is still alive, or if I think we’re visiting my parents for dinner, let me believe those things. I’ll be much happier for it.
• If I get dementia, don’t argue with me about what is true for me versus what is true for you.
• If I get dementia, and I am not sure who you are, do not take it personally. My timeline is confusing to me.
• If I get dementia, and can no longer use utensils, do not start feeding me. Instead, switch me to a finger-food diet, and see if I can still feed myself.
• If I get dementia, and I am sad or anxious, hold my hand and listen. Do not tell me that my feelings are unfounded.
• If I get dementia, I don’t want to be treated like a child. Talk to me like the adult that I am.
• If I get dementia, I still want to enjoy the things that I’ve always enjoyed. Help me find a way to exercise, read, and visit with friends.
• If I get dementia, ask me to tell you a story from my past.
• If I get dementia, and I become agitated, take the time to figure out what is bothering me.
• If I get dementia, treat me the way that you would want to be treated.
• If I get dementia, make sure that there are plenty of snacks for me in the house. Even now if I don’t eat I get angry, and if I have dementia, I may have trouble explaining what I need.
• If I get dementia, don’t talk about me as if I’m not in the room.
• If I get dementia, don’t feel guilty if you cannot care for me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s not your fault, and you’ve done your best. Find someone who can help you, or choose a great new place for me to live. With a bus and activities!!
• If I get dementia, and I live in a dementia care community, please visit me often.
• If I get dementia, don’t act frustrated if I mix up names, events, or places.
Take a deep breath. It’s not my fault.
• If I get dementia, make sure I always have my favorite music playing within earshot.
• If I get dementia, and I like to pick up items and carry them around, help me return those items to their original place.
• If I get dementia, don’t exclude me from parties and family gatherings.
• If I get dementia, know that I still like receiving hugs or handshakes.
• If I get dementia, remember that I am still the person you know and love.”
ᴄᴏᴘʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴘᴀsᴛᴇ in Honor of someone you know or knew who has dementia. In Honor of all those I know and love and lost who are fighting Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
