Conditions dictate behavior. Give people resources not punishment and you’ll get what you want, every time.
Back in April all these deliveristas would’ve been parked on the sidewalk and it would’ve been unwalkable. But since Wegman’s put in this e-bike loading zone it’s so much clearer. It’s proof that adequate on-street micromobility infrastructure is a win for pedestrians too

The gentleman who died on hwy 59 was a friend, and a legend in the food security community here in Winnipeg. He helped me a lot when I was running my own food bank, and this city doesn't know the extent of that loss just yet. Every life we lose to dangerous roads is tragic.

Me trying to walk to the grocery store.
I modded RDR2 so that all wagons and horses travel at super sonic speeds. It's now a horror game.

Given all else the same, a vehicle going 50km/h will slow down to 40km/h in the same space it takes a vehicle at 30km/h to come to a full stop. This blows people's minds. Driving 30km/h where kids are present is the difference between stopping and plowing them over at 40km/h.

Was driving 30 km/h around a construction zone (even though no one was working, imagine) and was able to easily stop when a small child chasing their puppy ran out in front of me. Slowing down saves lives. Do you want to start your day killing a kid and their dog? I don't!

I've been in so many rooms with elites talking about democracy and I raise economic and class issues and people plug their ears and only want to talk about civility or rock the vote programs or how name calling is bad. I cannot stress this enough: to save democracy, talk class.

Many people will continue struggling to come to terms with the election results, but there’s still a lot you can do: 1) Be irritable at work 2) Withdraw from people who love you/need you 3) Make an impulsive and self destructive major life decision

Did you watch the Democratic National Convention this year? This is more or less what they did. Not even saying it’s a bad strategy in this environment, just that it’s clearly swamped by inflation and immigration
Democratic path forward: Jettison the commies, Hamas fans and designer gender crowd. No more land acknowledgements. No more trying to please everyone. We have a point of view. Fight for normal people. Whatever gets in the way of that, we stop doing.

I definitely think this experience will scare pols away from big fiscal, but I think that’s a mistake. Sending out checks is part of Trump’s enduring popularity!
I'm seeing a lot of this, but I don't think its right. I think that the decisions to pursue CARES under Trump was a lot more important for the election than the decision to pursue ARP under Biden.

Smug racist remarks by many Dems across Twitter tonight help show why a growing share of minority voters do not reflexively feel at home in this party This rhetoric was visible throughout the campaign; gleefully sneering at critical voters, “let’s see what Trump does to you!”

Look at that fucking map
Let's be honest here: This was an across-the-board shift away from the Democratic Party. Not just one demo (though Hispanics shifted the most). Two main reasons: Inflation and Democratic priorities and language that just doesn't appeal to non-college people (esp. men).

No one voter bloc responsible for Harris' defeat She did worse than Biden in every county in the country The economy recovered but most people were still experiencing the cumulative impact of earlier shocks throughout the recovery. You can't just tell them the economy is great.
Jake Tapper shocked by map that shows that Kamala Harris did not out perform Joe Biden in a single county: Jake Tapper: "Holy smokes! Literally nothing? Literally not one county?" Trump was the biggest winner tonight. Joe Biden 2nd biggest winner.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
John King was showing state totals in this clip. Harris outperformed in 0 states by 3% or more. But a moment later he switched the view to show counties that outperformed by 3% or more, which showed that she was overperforming in only 58 counties in the country - but not 0. mediaite.com/tv/holy-smokes…

IF Sherrod Brown (a legitimately really good senator that actually responded to constituent concerns) loses to a used car salesman who stole wages from his employees, we have really lost the plot and I don’t think we find it again.

seriously, let this map sink in. Trump gained ground *everywhere* running to the left or picking Shapiro wouldn’t have saved Kamala. a majority of voters bought what Trump is selling, and he outperformed Republican congressional candidates everywhere.
