Another thing to consider. I had a large scholarship in college that came to me as a check. A family member got it first, deposited it in their account, then told me I owed it to them for raising me. Wouldn’t want that to happen to someone else.

there’s literally so many reasons not to give a large check to the student directly. the only scholarship checks that were mailed to me were the ones that were 2,000 and under

A former scholarship winner through my nonprofit reached out and suggested that in the future we award scholarships directly to the students so the universities cant adjust the amount of aid they’re eligible for. Yeah no. I’m not sending $10,000 personal checks to 20 year olds lmao
