What Ilham Aliyev will never publicly admit is that his family came to power through the will of Iossif Stalin.
Stalin, who was Georgian, was openly Iranophobic. Not only did he consider (before abandoning the idea) seizing southern Azerbaijan from Iran, but he also expelled the Persian-speaking Shiites from Dagestan (who had once been the majority) to replace them with Sunnis, and even created a new Sunni capital for Dagestan, Makhachkala, in place of Shiite Derbent.
Similarly, in Arran (northern Azerbaijan), where Persian-speaking Azerbaijanis remained numerous and held power, he expelled them to Iran (southern Azerbaijan) and installed more Turkic-speaking people there, including the Aliyev family. The Aliyevs became a dynasty of tyrants by Stalin's will and no other. Turkey played no role.

I have received information from several credible sources indicating that Israel is prepared and indeed preparing to use nuclear weapons in its war with Iran.
If this is the case, Iran is not the only place that urgently needs regime change. What do you think ?
Sedehi retweeted
I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran.
This is a picture of Tehran. For you uneducated, untraveled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it. It's not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You're sick to want war.
Tehran is a city of nearly 10,000,000 people. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons.
I gave up my diplomatic career to leak this information. I suspended my duties so as not to be part of or a witness to this crime against humanity, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear winter before it is too late.
Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It's dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.

This is NOT an attack on the Mullahs or the Islamic Republic. Its an assault on Iran
Sedehi retweeted
NY Times has essentially confirmed that Israel played a role in stimulating the violent regime change riots that left around 3000 dead in Iran this January 8 and 9, but which were marketed in the West as pro-democracy protests.
It was well understood by the Mossad that those riots would help stimulate military action by Trump.
Israeli intel merely needed to convince the feeble-minded president that a wave of decapitation strikes would unleash a massive upheaval to immediately topple the Islamic Republic. The January riots were presented to Trump as a preview of what was to come.
Western media, including the NY Times and The Guardian, played a central role in legitimizing Israel's deception by falsely characterizing the violent regime change riots as mere protests, massively inflating the death toll and covering up the fact that many were murdered by the Israel-backed rioters themselves
The whole of Western media and the Western human rights industrial complex deliberately misrepresented the real character of those riots. But now that the war they helped to instigate is going badly for the US and Israel, that same media is now free to reveal a few kernels of truth.

.@johnhawkes2001. One supports the Iranian people by promoting peace between Iran and the west and by reviving Iran's middle class, the basis of civil society and the best hope for the eventual removal of the mullahs. The 2015 JCPOA did this. Trump tore it up in 2018, preferring the path to war. See: theamericanconservative.com/…
Replying to @ClarkeMicah
Peter, with respect, you cannot seriously equate “civilised rules of behaviour” with a regime like the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This is not a state that has shown any consistent regard for such rules, either domestically or internationally.
Your argument appears to rest on the assumption that restraint alone preserves order. History suggests otherwise. Since the Iranian Revolution, the regime has maintained power through repression at home and projection of force abroad. Its record includes the suppression of dissent, the imprisonment and execution of political opponents, and sustained support for proxy groups across the region.
So the question is not merely whether Donald Trump has acted wisely or unwisely in any given moment. The more pertinent point is that confrontation with Iran’s ruling system was, sooner or later, inevitable. Whether initiated by an American administration, regional actors, or by internal collapse, the trajectory has been visible for decades.
To frame this purely as a breach of etiquette in international conduct is to mistake the nature of the problem. We are not dealing with a misunderstanding among well-intentioned states, but with a regime whose ideological commitments have long placed it at odds with both its own people and wider stability.
The more serious discussion, therefore, is not about temporary outrage, but about outcomes.
What would a post-IRGC Iran look like? What replaces a system that has combined clerical absolutism with militarised enforcement?
And how does one support the Iranian people, who have repeatedly demonstrated, often at great personal cost, that they aspire to something better?

Kemi Badenoch disaster of an interview criticising the Ramadan Tent Project's Iftar at Trafalgar Square is something to behold 😅
@RamadanTent did it without objection under 4 Conservative PMs:
2015 under David Cameron
2019 under Theresa May
2022 under Boris Johnson
2024 under Rishi Sunak
Gary Gibbon, "What is your objection to the Muslim prayer that happened in Trafalgar square"
Kemi Badenoch, "As a woman from an ethnic minority background, I do not like to see women shoved to the side, segregated, in an event that is not welcoming to others"
"Trafalgar square is a public space which we use for inclusive events"
Gary Gibbon, "But the event was welcoming. It was inclusive. It was inviting other people to come and see what the moment was like"
*Badenoch's eye lashes flash faster than a butterfly chasing nectar*
Kemi Badenoch, "A segregated event like that, I do not think the Mayor should be party political"
Gary Gibbon, "So gender segregation is your objection?"
Kemi Badenoch, "Yes, but more than that"
Gary Gibbon, "But lots of religions have gender segregation"
Kemi Badenoch, "Not in public spaces. This is not about freedom of religion"
Gary Gibbon, "The Ramadan Tent project organised events at the Victoria & Albert museum, in front of the Royal Albert Hall, under Conservative administrations"
"They've been developing this public way of showing their faith and inviting people to come and observe it"
Kemi Badenoch, "Without knowing the details of those events, I'm not making a comment"
"I'm taking a specific event about that type of mass prayer, segregating women in the middle of Trafalgar square"
"We believe in religious freedom, that doesn't mean any religious practice in every single religion"
"Sometimes the authorities need to set guard rails and say actually this is too much"
