Omg he was right
“ohhhhh boo hoo i’m unfulfilled in life i don’t know what to do” literally just have a baby, wait for the baby to grow some teeth, then go to a bakery on a sunny saturday morning and buy a croissant and share little bites of the croissant with the baby. it’s not that complicated.

Been thinking a lot lately about childcare, work, and early childhood development. It has inspired some interesting conversations between me and my husband about the social contract, role of government, and the difference between basic vs luxury services

New Raj Chetty study just dropped! Used @NotebookLM to make a quick video synopsis that captures some of the highlights Must take a deep dive and question all assumptions about our education system from first principles to recreate a system that rebuilds our citizenry
If you *only* used SAT to admit to elite colleges, share of admits from top 1% income falls 15.8% → 9.9% and representation from <$200k rises by +8.8%, with no reduction in post-college outcomes. It's 'holistic review' and 'ban SAT' policy that allows the most wealthy and powerful to virtue signal while getting an edge.

I think I might be a single issue voter who supports whoever has ideas and advocates for improving paid family leave in order to make what I’ve experienced more standard

Maternity leave has been the most amazing time of my life. I loved my baby girl from the very beginning, but these last two months have been an incredible time to bond and joyfully nurture this sweet, tiny human. So thankful to have another month before adding work into the mix

It's raining so I'm tinkering. Saw a tweet claiming the NYTimes has dumbed down over time. I created an API and python script to pull 50 random articles by decade and average the reading level. In sum, the NYT has not dumbed down. Made this to show my husband lol @TroyMThompsonII

Analyzing whether the subject matter is dumber is a different story… maybe more to come on this…..

Physics is so cool because you can find concepts or machines that seem to work the same way, but then you find out the mechanisms are actually based on completely different physical principles

Going into a bubble where everything I read about and watch is related to physics and radiobiology. Goodbye normal world

I’ve been using chatGPT as a personalized tutor as I study for my radiobiology and physics boards, and it’s amazing! I feed it pdf versions of my textbooks and ask it questions or test my knowledge as I progress through each chapter. I feel like I could learn anything with this

So when people talk smugly about how “dumb” it was to mask children or close schools, remember that in September 2021 you didn’t know if you were gonna get covid and recover or get hospitalized. In 2025, we survived and can say it worked out for us obviously
75
In all the discussion about covid policy failures, I really don’t want people to forget how bad covid really was. It was a scary time. I was a fresh intern working in the ICU when the delta wave hit. We had a floor full of 40 year olds intubated. I saw so much death.

Wife just taught me the professional way to say “told you so” is: This was identified early on as a likely outcome. Going to be using this… a lot

nytimes.com/2025/01/21/world… This article is actually crazy. They mention a Zimbabwean woman injuring herself trying to jump over the US-Mexican border wall with zero explanation for why a Zimbabwean woman is at the US-Mexican border in the first place??? Am I being radicalized???

Twitter really sucks now 😭 I’ve tried to curate my feed but it’s just not a good experience anymore.

A purposeful mentor is energizing, makes connections you couldn’t predict, and amplifies your talents. I’ve had an experience with a mentor who was the opposite of all of that, and I’m sad I lost valuable time but happy I know how to be better

People are also comparing UK generalist salaries to US subspecialist salaries. There’s not that big of a difference between a Swiss surgeon and a US surgeon’s salaries when you look at hours worked
