If adventure has to be given a name, Indiana Jones is my favorite one - but there is a lot more (Star Wars/Gate/Trek, Bond, M:I, JP, MCU, DC, ... )

I think many of us will miss this subliminal hope that we have had all the years for getting new Indiana Jones movies, since we were teenagers. Now this hope definitely ends , - but at least we get another one end of June. And it means a world to many of us. Am I right?

So I think I made Harrison Ford cry 🥲 (a bit) He certainly made me cry, I'll be honest with you

"Well, I thought you were supposed to take one look at that guy and think, that was a grocery delivery boy." 🤣👍
Harrison Ford was paid about $10,000 to play Han Solo. 38 years later, Disney paid him a reported $10 to $20 million to play him again. In between, he was a carpenter. In the 1960s, Columbia Pictures had him under contract as a bit actor. In his first role he played a bellboy. An executive called him in and told him he’d never be a star. So he quit and became a carpenter. He learned it from library books. His first job was a $100,000 recording studio, and he figured it out on the roof as he went. He did that for about 15 years. Then one day he was rebuilding a producer’s office. George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola walked in to hold auditions for Star Wars. Ford said hello and went back to work. Lucas had him read lines with the actors who came in to audition. Then he gave him the part. Star Wars made over $300 million in its first run. Ford’s check was about $10,000. He didn’t complain. He took the next job, and the one after that. Indiana Jones. Blade Runner. The Fugitive. When Lucasfilm came back for The Force Awakens in 2015, the carpenter set the price. The case for the studio: he was a nobody in 1977, and $10,000 was the going rate. The case for Ford: he built the character everyone came back for. Here’s the lesson: your first deal is the price of being unknown. Every deal after that is the price of being proven. In the video, he tells 60 Minutes how a carpenter ended up in Star Wars. Watch him, then decide. Was the $10,000 a bad deal, or the best investment he ever made?

Without Phil Tippett, the mine car chase in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom wouldn't have impressed us so deep.
Sadly, Phil Tippett is closing up the old Grayson Street studio and selling off props & memorabilia. This is the exact building where Phil's crew made my life mask (see photo) & we also filmed our STARSHIP TROOPERS toy commercial spoof (IFYKYK). Thank you for some amazing memories, Phil ❤️ And if you live in the Berkeley/Bay Area, stop by the studio. Even if you don't buy anything, I assure you you're walking thru film history. Oh, if the walls of that building could talk! 🎬👍 Click on the link below, and you can at least see some of the photos of what's available: estatesales.org/estate-sales…

This four-part German-French-Romanian TV series, my favorite adaptation of Jack London’s "The Sea-Wolf", was one of the defining experiences of my childhood that sparked my interest in adventure films. Who among you is also familiar with this adaptation?

On the very same weekend! Why does it have to be on the day of my youngest daughter's first day of school, of all days? So, unfortunately, I won't be able to attend. But take a look at the fantastic poster for the Adventurer's Summit 2026 in Germany. adventurerssummit26.de

Finally I found a main reason why I had a bad feeling about the promotion for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Without realising it, the whingeing German singer Udo Lindenberg was constantly on my mind whenever Indiana Jones-portraits like these turned up.

A very impressive quote from "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", because it's so true. #TonyStella #MichaelByrne "We seem to have reached the age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away."

NO TICKET! Three years ago, my favorite personal adventure became true.
One year ago, a childhood dream has come true. Without a ticket I drove spontaneously, to the Indiana Jones premiere in Berlin, met some nice Indy fans first time in reality, saw Harrison Ford right in front of me and got autographs from Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Kretschmann.

35 years 👀❗️and two Indiana Jones paintings later I tried to paint Marcus Brody. Inspired by a portrait of him, shown in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Feel free to give an honest opinion, I would appreciate. 🙂

Was it also for you very surprising when you saw "Temple of Doom" for the first time, and Indiana Jones wasn't wearing his adventurer's outfit in the opening sequence?
