Our research institutions plays a pivotal role towards cutting edge first class research and innovation. Today at @primateresearch I engaged with scientists and toured the institute's research facilities to gain a deeper appreciation of the groundbreaking work being undertaken in #biomedical research, infectious diseases, reproductive health and One health, Kenya has the talent and scientific capacity to compete globally.
Our focus must now be on ensuring that research translates into innovation, commercialization with entrepreneurship towards job creation while addressing our national development priorities.
I also encouraged our scientists to communicate their research more effectively so that Kenyans can better appreciate the critical role science, research and innovation play in improving lives and driving economic growth with Impact.
Huge potential in production of antivenom.
The Government remains committed to strengthening research financing to 1% of the GDP, fostering collaboration among institutions, and building a vibrant innovation ecosystem that positions Kenya as a regional leader in science and research.

Thank you, Bwana PS, for visiting and highlighting the work we are doing towards solving the snakebite crisis in Kenya.

@primateresearch appreciating extraction of venom for antivenom. It is estimated in 🇰🇪 we have annual 20,000 snake bites, with up to 4,000 deaths and 7,000 serious disabilities. We need to produce our own antivenom to enhance efficacy. In Kenya, a single vial typically costs between KSh 4,700 and KSh 8,500. We need to fund for production and commercialization @koske_felix @MusaliaMudavadi @nacosti @nrfkenya @KENIAupdates @OfficePCS_KE

HUDUMA MASHINANI
It was back in December 2024 when Attorney General Dorcas Oduor SC and I initiated the ‘All-of-Government Services’ outreach program now crystallizing as ‘Huduma Mashinani’.
Fashioned to meet the dire needs of communities not in the know or without the easy access to enabling government services, Huduma Mashinani is a last mile social equity model.
In the 7th Edition, today we are in Nyakach Sub-County of Kisumu to sensitize the communities as well as provide services ranging from Birth Certificate registration, ID registration, Marriage registration, Legal Aid, Passport application, DCI services, medical services, SHA registration, Voter Registration, registration with National Employment Authority and promotion of health as we tackle the Tripple burden of teenage pregnancies, HIV infections among the youth and Gender Based Violence.
From Muhoroni to Chepsaita, Alego Usonga to Rarieda, Butere to Kinango and the many forgotten villages we have gone to, citizens turn out in their thousands to participate in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Activities championed by His Excellency President Dr. @WilliamsRuto, CGH.
We are grateful for the support of government and community leaders in making these activities truly meaningful to the people who need them the most.

The opening ceremony featured messages from PS Mary Muthoni Muriuki (@psmuthoni), who reaffirmed the government's commitment to local health solutions, and PS Dr. Ouma Oluga (@fnoluga), who emphasized the need for Kenya to shift from health product consumer to regional producer.
Speaking on behalf of Kenya BioVax, CEO (Ag) Dr. Cecilia Wanjala, expressed support for the shared agenda, stating, “This meeting marks an important step toward establishing Kenya as a continental hub for biologics manufacturing. We are building a future where vaccines and biologics are produced in Africa, for Africa.”
As discussions continue into day two, BioVax looks forward to deepening strategic collaborations in research, regulatory alignment, commercialization pathways, and workforce development. Together with our partners, we are laying the foundation for a self-reliant and innovation-driven health ecosystem. 🇰🇪

These numbers are legit.
You can challenge them if you have alternative figures from @KNBStats and I will gladly accept the lie.
On a daily basis we are on the ground with Kenyans ensuring that no one is left behind from accessing healthcare based on financial hardship.
The only way is by registering with the Social Health Authority.
The story has changed. SHA IS WORKING. That’s the job.
Yes, @fnoluga is a professional I respect from his days as a @kmpdu activist. He should avoid the temptation to openly lie and or purport to do the @KNBStats work - without verifiable data. It doesn’t help SHA. It erodes the respect, trust and confidence a section of Kenyans have for him. Reminds me his role at @NMSKenya. There was a time when everything Government and from govt was trusted. Not anymore!
