The worst one yet… this is the disabled toilet in @koynlondon last night.
When I asked them about it, they said, “It’s not the disabled toilet; it’s a storage cupboard”.
I then asked them to show me where the disabled toilet was.
They responded, “Uhhh, well, we can clear it out.”
Disgusting attitude.
It is high time that councils go around and inspect restaurant-disabled toilets and give on-the-spot fines for misuse!!! – at London, England
Has anyone tried to gather and analyse accessibility statements across the UK public sector recently (possibly using artificial intelligence)? #accessibility #AccessibilityRegulations

PS Sorry we missed the alt text first time, and thanks for telling us!!

ALT A woman with long blonac hair, wearing a brightly patterned dress and sunglasses, stands at the bottom of a flight of stone stairs. She is holding a the lead of her guide dog, a golden retriever. They are both gazing towards the bold graphics next to them, that read 'As disabled people we should be able to travel with freedom confidence and ease'. Bright orange graphic arrows also point to the words.
The older I get, the more plain I try and make my language, because I know that makes it easier for many people, perhaps because of a cognitive impairment, or because English isn’t their first language. #a11y #accessibility
Making colour contrast right can be hard when it comes to ratios, web content accessibility guidelines success criteria, and compliance, but it can mostly be summarised as:
- dark background needs pale foreground text
- light background needs dark foreground text

We need to stop thinking of accessibility and other aspects of inclusion as separate things in an organisation and just think of them as part of the professional culture of the organisation. They should become a given in any organisation. Thoughts? #accessibility #Accessibility
