“Accessibility is too expensive” There are many problems with this idea, but let me just say this real quick: Accessible design is often cheaper than inaccessible design. For example, checkout Wayfair’s hover menu below. I’m trying to click a link on the right of the submenu but I can’t get there. This is because the direct route to the link moves the cursor out of the container. So I’m forced to move my mouse directly down and across carefully. This is sh*t UX for everyone, let alone people with motor impairments. But the kicker is that you could just show the menu on click which is not only good UX but it’s cheaper to implement. There’s plenty more examples of this.

NEW - Meet the extraordinary @ross_minor, who, despite being blinded as a kid 18 years ago, played through every Pokemon game on his own--until recent design changes made that impossible We discussed what he plays, what he can't and what could be better gamefile.news/p/pokemon-ross…

"This accessibility overlay's website says that to avoid being sued I just have to hand over a wad of cash and include one line of HTML, and my site will auto-comply with all legislation! Is this true? Should I use it?" @heydonworks has your answer here youtu.be/uNM8FR3yzWg?si=ZL18…

In non-WordCamp news, a class action lawsuit was filed against @AccessiBe for for Breach of Contract, Breach of the Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing. The suit states AccessiBe doesn't fix #a11y and businesses are more likely to be sued for using it. lflegal.com/2024/07/accessib…

Just to be clear... #a11y folks are not asking for "Perfection" ... we're just asking for basic semantic HTML, labels, proper usage of native controls and inputs, simple keyboard accessibility, good contrast, just basic #usability needs!

I don't think accessibility consultancies or experts should be sued by overlay companies for sharing opinions about overlays. But that's what happened to @armonyaltinier and her company. She was recently ordered to pay 25,000 Euros. We can help! lflegal.com/2021/11/overlay-…

Something I just realized. This hasn't been much of an issue for me because I'm playing on PC and able to interrupt NVDA. Yeah, this needs to be fixed because as someone with ADHD, that would be too much me alone.
This is what I mean. How can someone hear any in-game sound when the Screen Reader is reading resources like this? SR shouldn't be the only source of information in any game. #DiabloIv #accessibility
