Not to be a doomer but it really looks like we don't have our priorities right as a people. These are the people advancing science which is supposed to mitigate the kind of 'rare' natural disasters that have affected California twice in two years.

DEI programs didn't cause Boeing's failure, just like 'wokeness' didn't cause Silicon Valley Bank's collapse last year. The answer you're looking for is the thousands of corporate lobbyists teeming through Congress every day to help deregulate safety standards on behalf of ultra-rich shareholders.
I saw how floods affected India growing up in Kolkata - one of the most flood prone cities in the world. Today I'm very excited as @floodbase starts an important collaboration with @OGbroking to launch parametric flood insurance programs in the APAC region!
Announcing our strategic partnership with @OGbroking to launch parametric flood insurance programs across select Asian countries was a major highlight of our @LloydsofLondon's Lab demo day presentation. (1/3) artemis.bm/news/floodbase-an…

I'm really happy that it's taking off like this. It's still running for some time, if it's continuing like this, it'll be really great in the end.
Awesome news: Only two weeks since the IADF Flood Mapathon opened and already 30% of all image tiles have a first label. Hurry up and join in labeling floods in satellite images and win awesome prizes! More details at grss-ieee.org/community/tech…

Thanks to @ClarkCGA and @HamedAlemo for convening this wonderful group of people. I learned a lot from everyone and enjoyed discussing the role the center will play in the future of #GeospatialAnalytics and #GeoAI.
Last week we gathered a group of int'l experts on #GeospatialAnalytics for our Strategic Launch Workshop.
We had an engaging day w/ discussions about the future of geospatial analytics, #GeoAI and the role of academia in advancing the field.

I'm so sad to have missed this 🫤 Good reminder to future me to schedule vacations in August instead !
SatCamp was amazing
Hanging out with a bunch of people working on the future of mapping, Earth observations and tech was insightful and energising
Taking the time to talk and listen to a lot of people I knew only online so far -and new ones- all while in the mountains was great. We work in very technical, online stuff, but behind every keyboard are people. This was a good reminder
I’m more excited than ever to be working in this field
