Following the recent glacial debris flow near Gyirong Port—a key overland trade corridor on the China-Nepal border in Tibet—severe mudslides severed key transport routes and blocked valley access. Our OSE constellation is providing high-revisit monitoring over the affected corridor to support emergency operations.
AI-powered analysis of our satellite imagery highlights active rescue progress:
𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟳: Emergency vehicles and heavy equipment mobilized along the damaged corridor.
𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟴: Convoy advanced 709 meters through the debris, closing the remaining distance to Gyirong Port to 2.1 kilometers.
High-frequency satellite imagery paired with edge AI gives ground teams critical situational awareness—enabling precise vehicle tracking, barrier mapping, and verifiable progress metrics.
We will continue tracking the Gyirong Port corridor frame by frame, leveraging space AI capabilities to support ongoing relief efforts.

Today we finished the transfer and integration of the IITD system (v1) to the Ministry of Earth Sciences supercomputer. 10-day lead time riverine flood forecasts across the country generated in less than 15 minutes, powered by @ncmrwfmoes weather forecasts. All credit goes to my 2 PhD students (Ved and Priyam) who are "forward-deployed" to the official agency to ensure that our research doesn't die in a paper or report.
Organized this workshop with @ncmrwfmoes. We are in the middle of transferring a national medium-range flood forecasting system developed at IIT Delhi to MoES. Roll-out of experimental flood forecasts soon. Currently running on IITD supercomputer and undergoing testing.
