Welcome to the IIPA Library — a place where knowledge, research and public administration come together.
Located at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, the IIPA Library has a rich history spanning more than seven decades.
The Library was established in March 1955 and was formally inaugurated on 15 January 1956 by Shri Govind Ballabh Pant, the then Minister for Home Affairs, Government of India.
From a modest beginning, the Library has grown into one of the important specialised libraries in the country, particularly in the field of Public Administration and allied disciplines.
Today, the IIPA Library is not simply a place where books are kept.
It is a centre for learning, research, information and knowledge dissemination.
A Rich and Specialised Collection
The Library houses a vast collection of more than 2.3 lakh volumes of books, journals and periodicals.
Its collection is particularly strong in areas such as:
Public Administration, Management Sciences, Economics, Planning and Development, Political Science, Sociology, Development Studies, History, Law, Rural and Urban Studies, Gender Studies, Defence Studies, Governance and Consumer Studies.
For students, researchers, academicians, civil servants and professionals, the Library provides access to a wide range of information resources — from classic works and historical documents to the latest research and scholarly publications.
The collection includes books and government publications, bound periodicals, APPPA theses, newspapers, print and online journals, and World Bank publications.
The Library also provides access to a growing range of digital resources and online journals, making scholarly information available beyond the physical walls of the Library.
