What @AustralianSuper doesn’t want you to know: it’s the #1 shareholder in @WhitehavenCoal, a company with the biggest coal expansion plans in Australia. 🙃 But this means AustralianSuper has influence. Let’s make the fund use it. 👉 australiansuperpolluter.com/

It’s a con. It’s always been a con. “Australians must understand that the purpose of our mind-boggling expenditure to acquire nuclear submarines is not to defend the continent of Australia but the American homeland.” The great AUKUS deception: Australia pays to defend America pearlsandirritations.com/pos…

This is huge. In a landmark ruling, the High Court has found planning authorities are required to consider the emissions caused by burning fossil fuels overseas – not just emissions from mining coal, oil and gas – when approving projects. #auspol abc.net.au/news/2026-10-07/m…

You can see why the major parties voted against a Duty of Care to young people and future generations. Climate scientists and the International Energy Agency are clear - we have enough coal and gas for the transition and cannot keep expanding them without damaging the people and places we love. This is tragically short sighted and we’ll pay the price in the future. We can do better here in 🇦🇺 and push for more global action. theguardian.com/australia-ne…

Tasmanian Aboriginal elder Aunty Patsy Cameron passed on this morning, aged 79. At a time when people wear identity politics like a suit of armour, Patsy wore no armour at all. Calm, wise & kind, she was a national treasure who embodied reconciliation.

Alan Kohler today on failure to curb global warming... "One of the key reasons for that failure has been the cynical opposition & denial by Rupert Murdoch & his media companies in order to make money, which has meant that the issue became a totem of right-wing politics" #auspol

Indonesia has made big promises to cut its use of coal — but is turning a blind eye to the massive amounts of coal being used to power new nickel and aluminium smelters, thanks to a “transition minerals” loophole. apnews.com/article/iran-asia…

“Health professionals understand that identifying a risk without taking meaningful action to reduce it is not enough. In healthcare, we don’t simply acknowledge that something is harmful – we intervene. Prevention sits at the heart of what we do because we know acting early protects lives,” writes Veronique for @CroakeyNews.

OPINION: "Macquarie does not need another carefully worded statement of climate ambition. If the millionaire’s factory genuinely supports the goals of the Paris Agreement, it needs to stop providing further financial support to major new fossil fuel projects, including the Beetaloo Basin." - Morgan Pickett @renew_economy reneweconomy.com.au/macquari…
