Restaurants are dead.
Chefs are dead.
I just bought an airfryer and I can cook anything.
And recipes are on the internet for free!!

If you think that normal people are going to build their own custom software with AI instead of just pressing a button to download what someone else already made, it makes me wonder if you've ever met a normal person once in your entire life
LLMs are smart enough now, but they need to fix the plumbing.
MCP servers keep disconnecting, the agents can't access the browser, or don't know which one to use, or keep asking for permission
is this solvable?

It does feel like every year OpenAI releases a variation on the same third-party ecosystem only to semi-abandon it: Plugins in 2023, GPTs and the GPT Store in 2023-2024, Apps in 2025, and now Plugins (same name, different thing than before) in 2026.
enough with the bullshit, we just want
- a good, reliable model
- enough usage for the week
- no nerfing
whoever delivers that gets our $$$
right now it's Anthropic

What’s with these guys and restaurant reservations? What’s this market, $30M a year? Why is every AI sales pitch now obsessed with restaurant reservations? how many people are struggling with this problem on a weekly basis? A few thousand at most? Enough with the reservations!
Instinct CEO Noah Shinn says agents will let restaurants give tables to birthdays and anniversaries over whoever clicks first
"And traditionally, because of the way that the internet has worked, at least for reservations, it's been first come first serve. So anyone that comes in, no matter how important or how not important it might be, whoever gets in first gets the reservation."
"But what if you had the ability for the agent to be able to communicate on both sides, communicate, hey, this is important. This is actually the person's spouse's birthday, the 30th birthday, a very special event is coming up."
"And the restaurant too can say, let's actually prioritize birthdays or major decade birthdays or major anniversaries or these certain people, I don't know, whatever it might be, right?"
"So now with the ability, with all of the logistical burden of having to describe exactly what your case is and what's happening and why it's important. Now we have the ability to perfectly match what does the restaurant want? What does the user want?"
"And that will result in more special events for the users being able to actually have a spot in the restaurant."
is there a tool to keep config.toml and settings.json synced? I want Claude Code + Codex to have the same guardrails without having to maintain two separate files
enjoying the cheap and smart new chatgpt/claude models, before we inevitably go back to GPT-3 intelligence for the price of Fable ultra super fast, in approximately a week
if you're running out of Codex usage and don't have time to waste, opencodex + deepseek api is good enough to keep going, it's $1-2 extra per day to get a decent amount of work done
used to struggle writing emails as a non native english speaker, especially formal ones. Now I'm super informal and lean into my mistakes just so people know for sure I'm typing and it's not AI

can someone build a cursor/codex alternative that just works with all models
i hate switching tools all the time

Who's building cool stuff in Manchester?
The first @foundupnorth meetup of 2026 is in less than two weeks

I can almost hear the sigh from the developer as their manager says "We need to mark this menu item as NEW"
Congrats to the guy for the idea and virality, but he hasn't built a business. It's a great marketing stunt and a quick payout.
If you're building a SaaS don't second guess yourself just because of this, there's no MRR there and you can't survive on marketing stunts
Sometimes I feel like I'm overcomplicating my life trying to build a SaaS company when you can just build a directory site and make like $25,000 in one day lol

Next @foundupnorth meetup is on 16th Sept at The Deansgate, Manchester 🫡
If you want to talk shop about bootstrapping startups up North, come and join us!
Also big thanks to @jonnyburch and @a7fort for passing the torch on running Found Up North.
