Starting a business isn’t a walk in the park ! It’s one of the hardest things ever
I have a theory that no matter how many years you spend in management or experience as a professional. You will never fully understand how difficult it is to start and manage a business till you either start one or become fully responsible for one.

It’s the little things that make a customer say, “Ah, these people actually care.” 🥹 A quick response. A thoughtful gesture. Going the extra mile. That’s what Customer Service Week is about. 💙🧡

Ownership is not a feeling. It's a decision. Most people treat their standards as a response to their environment performing when conditions are good, pulling back when they're not. I've built my entire career on the opposite principle.

You remember the viral video of a Catholic priest that was seen weeping during the celebration of the Mass? He has released a statement to explain what he experienced. Take time to read. It'll uplift your faith and make you appreciate the Mass all the more. ------------------------------------- A Statement from Father Brent Bowman on Eucharistic Experience During Mass September 16, 2026 To the good people of God: Praise be Jesus Christ, now and forever! On Monday, September 14, I celebrated the Holy Mass for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hopkins, MN. Present were Chesterton Academy students, faculty and staff and parishioners of the parish. During the Mass, I had a private spiritual experience while praying the Eucharistic prayer over the bread and wine and I want to humbly share and clarify what I experienced all for God’s glory and praise. In doing so, I also want to correct any misinformation as the Mass recording is being shared online. To clarify up front, my experience was NOT what the Catholic Church considers a “Eucharistic miracle.” The forms of bread and wine retained their accidents (i.e., their appearance and taste) during this entire experience. Never did I see real blood or human flesh with my eyes. My experience was this: During the consecration prayer over the wine at the altar, as I spoke the words, I was given what I believe to be internal knowledge of the power of these words being spoken and the reality of their effect to the point that I had difficulty speaking. With each word, I became more physically overwhelmed as seen in the video. At the same time, I was given sensory knowledge of the weight of God’s power coming down upon the altar, and I felt the heaviness of Jesus’s substantial presence in the chalice in my hands. The chalice became too heavy to hold as I felt it pulled down to rest upon the altar. I felt my hands fixed to the chalice of the Precious Blood, and I could not physically move it. Attempting to elevate the Precious Blood, which I was not able to do for a period of time, I believe I was given grace to understand more deeply the bittersweetness of Our Lord’s Passion and how much blood Christ shed for the immense weight of all our sins. I believe I experienced this weight in the chalice. This spiritual experience emotionally and physically overwhelmed me as evident in the Mass recording. Lastly, private spiritual encounters with God like these are completely unmerited gifts and signs of God’s abundant love for all his people. They are not necessarily signs of any person’s holiness. I pray this brief testimony moves all our hearts to contemplate more deeply the mysteries of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and the Precious Blood. Peace in Christ, Fr. Leadership is easy when everything is working, the team is motivated, and the results are coming in. The real test begins when things get difficult, when plans fail, and when the pressure starts to build.

Leadership is all about influence, and it is aptly put together in my favourite leadership quote: “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” - John C. Maxwell. Do you really believe EVERYTHING rises and falls on leadership?

This is spot on! For communication to be effective it must speak to 3 things; Information - What do you want the person to know? Emotion - How do you want the person to feel? Excited? Motivated? Sense of urgency? Action - What do you want the person to do?
Many internal business problems arise from poor communication. Someone assumed. Someone wasn't informed. Two departments understood the priority differently. A decision was made, but never properly cascaded. A customer was promised something operations knew nothing about. As organisations grow, communication can no longer be left to chance. You need deliberate communication rhythms. What gets discussed daily, weekly, or monthly? Who needs to know what? Where are decisions documented? How are priorities cascaded? How does information move from management to frontline teams and back? People should understand what matters, what is expected of them, what has changed, who owns what, and when it needs to happen. And good communication goes beyond sending more emails, holding more meetings, or creating more WhatsApp groups. The goal of communication is clarity. This also means understanding that information cannot always be communicated in exactly the same way to everyone. A strategy discussed at board, or management level may need to be broken down differently for a department head, supervisor or frontline employee. The message should be translated into what it means for each person: What do I need to know? What do I need to do? What has changed for me? Communication is not complete simply because the message was sent. It is complete when people understand it well enough to act correctly. So before concluding that your people are incompetent, unwilling, or simply "don't get it", sometimes ask a simpler question: Did we communicate clearly enough? #BuildingSoFresh #BusinessLessons Day 19/30

"Sales were ₦100m." That's reporting. "Sales were 8% below budget, 4% below the same period last year, because customer traffic declined in three locations." That's analysis. "We need to address footfall in those locations, review the offers, and track the impact weekly." That's decision-making. Reports give you raw data. Analysis gives the data meaning, and decision-making turns that meaning into action. Don't spend time just discussing numbers everyone can already see on the slides. Ask why? And then so what? What drove the increase? Which locations, products, or channels contributed most? Is it a one-off or a trend? Why did costs rise? Did those 500 leads actually become customers? Why not? What changed compared with last month, last year, or the budget? And most importantly, what are we going to do about it? A useful review meeting should therefore move from: What happened → Why it happened → What it means → What we are doing next. Go beyond reporting numbers!! #BuildingSoFresh #BusinessLessons Day 16/30
