The actual reality is that for most people the line between "literally true" and "i only believe this silly thing because it's fun" is very blurry, which is how they can believe things like "children are getting sex changes in school" and other dangerously evil nonsense
I don’t really feel any urge to defend astrology people but strong feelings about it are a variation of this, certain kinds of people do not understand pastimes predicated around “you are socially expected to lie about it”. Astrology is mostly two people who don’t seriously believe it playing magician with each other, and they both know the other is lying, and lying is the entire point. Much like seeing a celebrity impersonator. But this kind of entertainment is very difficult to grasp for autistic people, who, when trying to replicate its whimsy, need to create hard lines at the “point where the lying begins and ends”. The autistic version of the same phenomenon is LARP, as in, *actual* live-action roleplay. Which takes all the whimsy out of playing pretend

While it’s true some people dismiss astrology on misogynist grounds, I’m afraid that Le Guin said it best.

7yo (doing his math homework): It’s asking how many boots two octopi would need. I’m pretty sure the answer is zero.
Me: …
7yo: Because they don’t have feet. And they swim in the ocean.
Me: You can also tell your teacher that “octopi” is an etymologically inaccurate plural.
6yo: What’s the biggest number?
Me: There are an infinite number of numbers so there’s no biggest one.
6yo: What’s the biggest number you know the name of?
Me: A googolplex.
6yo: Which is bigger, a googolplex or a googoobazillion?
Me: There’s not a number named a googoobazillion.
6yo: If there are an infinite number of numbers, there must be one named a googoobazillion.
Checkmate.

Another irony about Bluesky is that a chunk of their userbase moved there "to prevent AI scraping", but Bluesky is about the only major social media site that has a free and open firehose API. You can download everything ever uploaded in there for free, for any reason you want.
Replying to @KeyTryer
Imo Bluesky failed to make their ideals clear when they got the first wave of lib users who came in response to Elon Musk buying Twitter, and demanded more and more even though the culture within Bluesky (the company) is peak tech-libertarian.

"just stop torturing children" is such a reductive argument that completely oversimplifies the issue. it also just shows how ignorant you are of omelavian culture. this is an ancestral practice that has guaranteed the prosperity of our society.

What I don't get about the "it's just fun!" defense of astrology is that a worldview where your personality, fortune, and romantic compatability were all arbitrarily determined at birth by something completely outside your control actually sounds miserable and depressing, not fun
