Some actors were born to play one specific character, and nobody else could've done it better.

Oh parineeti you fool, could have been the greatest thing to have happened to silver screen post 2010s but nvm. Like in just her 2nd film, how magically she portrays chaotic and confusing whirlwind of falling in love for the first time like a veteran facing camera umpteenth time
parineeti had so much spark and arjun was equally good playing an asshole

All 8 year old kids are anti nationals because they hate lauki too
Actress Kareena Kapoor appeared on Kapil Sharma’s show with her husband, Saif Ali Khan. During the show, she said that people in Saif Ali Khan’s family always ask for bottle gourd (lauki) to be cooked. While saying this, she made a disgusted face. She then said, We are people who eat paya, referring to non-vegetarian food, and started laughing, implying that she cannot eat bottle gourd (lauki). Kareena Kapoor is such a big actress, yet she is making fun of veg food on national television and showing such disdain for vegetarian food, even in a Hindu-majority country where a large number of people enjoy vegetarian food and it is widely preferred in India. Kareena Kapoor should respect all kinds of food choices. I did not expect this from her.

using the internet to be reactionary as a coping mechanism for virulent unhappiness always leads to abject misery, but it’s unsettling how viral this has become.

so diaspora remembers their Indian roots when they need to talk about margot robbie wearing noor jehan's necklace or scandanavian scarf or western celebrities wearing lehenga chili as couture but when there's talk about amplifying protests in India then it's all strange ok
i mean this with full respect, because i do respect what you’re trying to say here, but i think there are some very strange expectations that are somewhat randomly placed on second gen immigrants at times. i personally struggle to understand why second gen-ers are specifically required to opine on current political/social movements in a country they have never lived in as a pre-requisite to being able to celebrate the culture in which they were raised. i say this because i can almost GUARANTEE that these people’s parents, who were (most likely) born AND raised in india for most of their lives, are also not making any [public] commentary on the protests, yet i highly doubt anyone would tell them they are not allowed to celebrate holidays or customs from their culture unless they speak out about current events first. on top of that, i think it takes on a bit of a “white man’s burden” effect to have indian-americans who have never lived in india be the spokespeople for what is happening in india. idk i’m not saying second gen-ers shouldn’t open their mouths at all but i do think it’s a bit of a misplaced responsibility to suggest that they *must* speak out about current political affairs, and if they don’t, then they are being exploitative of india by celebrating diwali or holi or whatever. my opinion is that it feels a bit self-serving
