#CaptainCode ❤️ #OpenShell. Ensure your prompt runs safely! CaptainCode has experimental support for @NVIDIAAI / @Canonical OpenShell. You define the task, permitted files and tests. The worker runs inside a sandbox with policy-controlled file and network access. Tests run in the sandbox, and Captain Code returns a checked patch for review. 💡 Quick example of how this helps. Imagine you want to task your agent with improving a cleanup script on your laptop, and you are worried it might delete the wrong files during its tests. You absolutely want to test that safely in a sandbox! 👉 Just type in CaptainCode: /openshell test and improve scripts/cleanup.py, making sure it only deletes *.md files ⚙️ Captain code will confirm: allowed=scripts/cleanup.py verify=["python3","-m","pytest","tests/test_cleanup.py"] and come back with a verified patch and test results, all from a disposable sandbox. 🔐 Nothing ran on your machine. You review the diff, confirm the tests pass, and apply it only when you are ready. ✅ What lands in your terminal: • Snapshot taken at HEAD • Sandbox worker 1/1: scripts/cleanup.py + tests/test_cleanup.py • Verify: pytest tests/test_cleanup.py — 3 passed, 0 failed • Advisory host review: no issues found • Patch exported: /tmp/cc-openshell-5a9f.patch Thank you @jtm_tech, @AlexWatson405, @a_golshan @NVIDIAAIDrew and the broader community for bringing OpenShell to life 👏 We intend to contribute boundary tests, runtime fixes and evidence formats to OpenShell. 📖 Learn more: lemma.ventures/blog/captain-… 🕹️ Test it today: captaincode.ai 🧐 Release notes: github.com/lemma-ventures/ca… 🐚 OpenShell: github.com/lemma-ventures/ca… #AIAgents #DevTools #OpenSource

Fable was a breakthrough not long ago, and now it's just "another model." Opus 5.5 won't look impressive again in a month! That is crazy
Introducing Claude Opus 5.5, the first model in our new Claude 5.5 family. It performs at the level of Claude Fable 5.1 for most tasks, and costs 40% less to run than Opus 5.

For people looking into real use cases for Jev. This is one of the best that I have seen so far. Captain Code helps you run all your agents from one terminal. Save costs and time. @typesafeai Jev helps pick the best available model for the given task.
Today we're open-sourcing #CaptainCode 🚀 🫶 Captain picks the right AI model for each prompt and runs it from one terminal, on your machine. It drives the @claudeai Code, @OpenAI Codex, @xai @grok and @Cursor CLIs you already pay for, and gives you access to the most capable open-weight models through @OpenRouter, @nvidia NIM and @huggingface. Why we built it? We no longer knew which model to use for what, we were under-using our subscriptions, and we wanted to hand more work to cheaper, capable open models. More than 25% of my prompts go to open-weight models as a result, and counting! How does Captain work? It leverages the newly released @typesafeai Jev model to triage every task in milliseconds. Then it routes on quality, cost and latency, with the outcome logged locally for iterative improvements. When a model hits its usage limit, it reads the reset time and carries the work, context included, to the next relevant available model. When you type /oss, the task goes to open models only. Learn more about Captain, try it now: captaincode.ai We welcome feedback and contributions 🖖 Crafted with ❤️ on @opencode.

AI is rapidly getting smarter. Now, humanity can too. Today, @nucleusgenomics is announcing Vitruvian, our newest set of genetic optimization models. Vitruvian’s intelligence model can optimize embryo DNA for 14 IQ points — nearly a standard deviation. The models were trained on 1,000,000+ people, validated across 40,000+ siblings, and used more than 7 million genetic markers. In Superintelligence, Nick Bostrom proposed genetic optimization as a key way for humanity to keep pace with rapidly advancing AI. Bostrom’s vision is no longer theoretical. Genetic optimization, like AI, has followed a scaling law: as datasets have grown, so have model capabilities. This trend will continue. Parents across the world now have the choice to substantially increase their child’s intelligence. And the next generation can choose to do the same. AI is no longer the only intelligence that will compound. Humanity can now direct its own evolution.

Another use case for Jev: App Reviews You are welcome @AppStore / @GooglePlay
Here's a 45-second TL;DR on Jev. I find the core idea beautifully simple, but the video made it really hard to understand. Hope you find it helpful.

An asset against inflation. LONG COWS!
For 5,000 years, one productive beef cow has been worth about one ounce of gold. Mesopotamia. Rome. The Viking Age. The ratio held. In 1926, a good cow cost $22. A $20 gold coin held 0.9675 ounces of gold. Almost exactly one ounce per cow. Today, a young productive beef cow sells for $4,000 to $5,000 at auction. Gold sits around $4,500 an ounce. The ratio has held for five millennia, and still holds today.

Same AI/LLM prompt, with different answer, leads to a different set of decisions. That is the failure mode regulators and auditors actually care about when AI agents move money, unlock assets, or change who can act. Most teams still hear "the model is non-deterministic" and stop there. In practice, the model weights are often stable. What drifts is the serving stack around them: hardware, engine build, scheduler, silent updates. Temperature 0 does not mean replayable. For regulated and mission-critical systems, three questions come first: 1. Can we reproduce the same output from the same input? 2. Can we name what changed when the output changed? 3. Can we prove the path met policy at the time it ran? If the answer is no, you do not have an audit trail. You have a plausible story, not a verifiable, provable, replayable one. I wrote a short, non-technical note on why replayability is a foundation for agent adoption in regulated systems, and how to ask for it before launch. Read it here: lemma.ventures/blog/regulate… Disclosure: I maintain the harness under Lemma Ventures AG, which builds infrastructure in this space. Read incentives accordingly. #AIAudit #RegTech #AIAssurance #AgenticAI

I love it "No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams."
This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. Increasing economic freedom requires a new financial system, and we’re building it. The Coinbase that emerges from this will be more capable than ever to achieve our mission. Brian
