Almost ten years ago I made this awful drawing. Was a huge part of my teenage life. Used to dream he'd win it. Thought it'd be sooner, thought he'd still be at spurs. Gutted how things turned out, but still a joy to watch.

There is no trojan horsing socialism. (This is to OP as well as to my fellow Indian commies)
Imagine having a DSA endorsed candidate leading in the polls & unironically thinking now would be a good time to un-endorse cuz she’s trying to Trojan horse socialism to liberals in a literal CNN interview and it didn’t satisfy your LARP signifiers and say the magic words for you

'the house always wins' doesnt mean its impossible to win big, you might even do it 4 times it means the game goes on till you spend it all away also remember, when you win there is always a loser and it aint the house celebrate your win, but we gotta get tf out of this place

Want to elaborate on this - even if you disregard the idea that people will just not be upset at all realizing they’ve been played for a political agenda they may not understand or agree with, it’s so deeply condescending and disrespectful to those masses to do it. Hate it.
You will never achieve socialism by lying to everyone and hoping they accept it upon realizing they’ve been bamboozled

Critical theory folks, what are your thoughts on Rahel Jaeggi's ideas?

The concept of value is nothing, for communists, if not a crosshair that flashes red when we need to smash something. - Jasper Bernes

I can't help but see this as coming from helplessness to acc abolish value & change the relations of production. More similar to present day populist crusades of humiliating and attacking the enemy identity, but never attaining satisfaction, bc underneath things remain the same.
During the Cultural Revolution, these were some of the rules the middle schooler Red Guards were instituting. They'd set up street checkpoints to impose "revolutionary haircuts" and proletarian dress code

While on the surface they seem opposed, counterculture in the west also went the same way. And in china, it wasnt just w the students. In factories as well, the workers publically shamed managers but they couldnt do anything to negate there being managers in the first place.

Not to say there wasnt anything positive about the cultural rev. There was more democratisation of knowledge and public accounting, but it couldn't go all the way. Owing to the top down nature of it. The state, military and even the red guards remain as limits to be overcome.

For a revolution to carry through a requirement is that the state is severely weakened. Inter capitalist wars, natural disasters etc contribute but most imp is it weakening itself thru internal splits and large scale mutiny.
how do you even defeat a state that has modern technology? sometimes i fear the era of revolution is over

It’s worth thinking about what ‘party’ means here
However that may be, the present rising in Paris – even if it be crushed by the wolves, swine and vile curs of the old society – is the most glorious deed of our Party since the June insurrection in Paris.

Debord 1966 - Nobody would even dare to write such a thing today, which only proves how much things have already shifted to the right.

If our goal is the abolition of the present state of things, we move thru failure after failure until our final victory. Claiming partial victories is like saying the operation was successful but the patient died. Along the way we can improve, learn & replenish but not yet win.

I can't see the jnusu hunger strike as a victory when other than cancelling rustication of leaders, all it achieved is 'admin will consider' 'admin will consult'. It looks more like admin was victorious in stopping you from protesting & further pr mess in exchange for readmission
You might see me as a joyless fraud when I question the 'victories' your unions are having. This delusional sense of victory is whats stopping you from rethinking and struggling with our dreadful condition. Theres no way out than facing it, atleast slowly. Denial doesnt help.

These small 'victories' might be what's sustaining you, keeping you from total disillusionment. But like an addict, you need to TRY and open yourself to the idea that there could be other ways to live and act. Itll be really hard, overwhelming but breaking the cycle is worth it.

100 rs per book and thats 11000 books. WB has more than 10 cr ppl. Left liberals would rather project overconfidence in their strategy, than face the overwhelming reality. Lest they have to rethink their theory & tactics and how toothless it is.
Just to add Context. The Jadavpur main book stall the fascists had attacked using state machinery, sold 3.5 lakhs INR worth books only today, totalling a mammoth 11 lakhs worth book sold in the last 4days of Durgapuja. The people of Bengal have culturally defeated fascists.

Its literally this meme. They interpolate the incremental growth theyre experiencing and think if they just keep at it theyll eventually beat fascism in some years. Havent learned anything from cjp's growth. They won't grasp the logic of mass action if they cont. w this NGO logic
