I am super excited that our paper (my 1st 1st author paper 🥹) in #pnas is finally out! We found that the #chytrid s Bd & Bsal have 2-speed genomes previously only found in #plant #pathogens. Also exciting: #transposons appear to be shaping their genomes & drive pathogenicity. 1/2
Our new paper is published in #pnas on the 2-speed genomes of #chytrid pathogens of amphibians (Bd and Bsal). Repetitive sequence inc. transposons appears to be shaping their genomes and driving their pathogenicity pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.22… @theresa_wacker

This really is no joke. People act like toxic environments in research is the price we have to pay for genius to succeed. But have we considered that there might be more success in positive work environments where everyone feels properly supported? /1 nature.com/articles/d41586-0…

and one little teaser: research on this fascinating topic is still continuing in #theustunlab @LanginGautier is preparing his manuscript explaining the last puzzle pieces of how the proteasome coordinates the tradeoff btw. growth & defense, surprise photosynthesis plays a role 😅 – at Bochum, Germany

Very nice synthesis of a fast-moving, complicated topic. Thanks for taking on this challenge!
Since my PhD i've been working on the manipulation of the proteasome by🦠& finally we had the chance to write an @AnnualReviews on "The Plant Ubiquitin–Proteasome System as a Target for Microbial Manipulation"with @LanginGautier @manugonfu #proteostasis 🧵 annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10…
