Boris created Claude Code. His point here is important - when AI handles the code generation, the engineer's value shifts to the decisions above the code:
1. what do we build?
2. why? for whom?
3. and how it all fits together.
The bottleneck was always judgment, taste, and systems thinking. AI just made that more obvious.
Replying to @big_duca
Someone has to prompt the Claudes, talk to customers, coordinate with other teams, decide what to build next. Engineering is changing and great engineers are more important than ever.

Curious to know where #Monsoon2023 rainfall stands through early Sept or in comparison to the last 15years? We'll definitely finish ahead of 2020, but still very dry. The image below is the "average" total around Maricopa County (using 297 index gages), not just Sky Harbor #azwx

NEW from us: In light of Phoenix legalizing backyard Accessory Dwelling Units, we revisited Tempe's ADU legalization.
Our review of Tempe's permit data shows *just* five casitas have been constructed since its passage in 2019.

Congratulations on Phoenix City Council for voting 8-1 to legalize ADUs city wide!
Huge win for Phoenix and a great example for cities across the state!

Some AZ cities rep themselves as sustainable building leaders. But we found many of the same are hindering growth in other ways, incl. adopting policies that restrict the most sustainable and needed types of housing and by sending lobbyists to oppose legislation designed to help.

Half of America’s car trips are under a few miles, which is a short bicycle ride. But we all know it’s not the distance that’s scary, it’s the infrastructure.

Our Bike Racks for Businesses program just installed another rack this morning!
This two hoop rack, powder-coated in matte black, replaced an old rusted rack that had seen many years of service outside Changing Hands in Tempe.

REMINDER: Tomorrow at 6 PM, the Development Review Commission will have its first hearing on the proposed General Plan.
We need pro-housing voice to come out in support for changes that would allow for much needed housing and a more walkable, sustainable city.

Want a great case study of why "affordable housing" does not exist? I'm 12-months negotiating with neighbors and city officials, and $100k+ into attorney, engineering and city costs before having my first official city meeting.
