Man, I genuinely feel like I'm playing a completely different game than some of you. I keep seeing people saying Liadrin's death "wasn't earned", that there wasn't enough buildup, that Blizzard just killed her off to push some message about peace and I'm sitting here like, did we not just play through the same fucking expansion? We've spent the entirety of Midnight watching Liadrin confront her hatred of the Amani. This is a woman who lost her parents to them, was tortured by them, and spent a huge portion of her life seeing them as enemies. Then we spend an entire expansion watching her actually get to know these people. She fights alongside them, learns about their history, develops relationships with them, and starts challenging the same hatred that defined her for so long. Many of you said Zul'Aman was the best part of the first patch and somehow we're acting like none of that happened? Even the criticism about Lor'themar and Zul'jarra clasping wrists while she's dying is bizarre to me. People are saying that moment somehow diminishes her sacrifice, but I saw the exact opposite. That was the fucking payoff. Two people representing generations of hatred finally putting that aside, even if just for a moment. The very thing Liadrin had been working toward throughout this entire story. That doesn't mean centuries of conflict are suddenly resolved. The story doesn't even pretend that's the case. It's a beginning. I went back and watched the cinematic again, and I still got a lump in my throat like the first time I saw it. I'm not saying the writing is perfect. I'm not saying everyone has to like it. Fuck Warcraft has never exactly been the pinnacle of storytelling to begin with, but I feel like we've reached this weird point in the community where people not liking something automatically means the writing is objectively terrible. There's a difference between a story not landing for you and a story not having the buildup to support what happened and to be honest I'm getting really fucking tired of seeing people completely disregard everything that actually happened in the game just to reinforce the same tired talking points about modern Blizzard. You didn't like it? Cool. I can understand that. I did, I thought it was a genuinely meaningful conclusion to Liadrin's journey, and I don't think I'm somehow failing to understand good storytelling because I enjoyed it. Sometimes I just want to talk about something in Warcraft without every conversation turning into a competition over who can explain why it's actually shit.

Yes, let's bitch and moan so they never try to experiment with anything again and continue to just do the same expansion cadence that they've used previously so that way we can bitch and moan so they never experiment again. Do you guys not see a pattern here? Fans of this game cannot fucking stand when there's a deviation away from a formula, even though they bitch and moan about there being a formula. We don't want to have RP in the raids and dungeons. Liandrin dies. Why was there no RP to tell me what was happening in the raid and dungeons? We want more content. We don't want to have to wait months between patches. Eight weeks is way too fast. Everything that comes out is slop. We don't want borrowed power because it doesn't carry over to the next expansion. How come there's nothing to grind? Why aren't there any long quest lines for me to focus on my main? At this point, if I was a Warcraft dev, I'd literally just tell the audience to go get fucked.
