Here is a man with real struggles (he is a cross dresser) And here are Latter day Saints meeting him with nothing but patience and tenderness. No sales pitch. No baptism quota hiding behind the kindness. They simply love him the way you would love a brother, because to them that is exactly what he is. That is the gospel. Not the argument about it. The thing itself. You can debate their doctrine all day. You cannot debate this. Jesus said the world would know His disciples by their love for one another. I truly wish more churches outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints held themselves to the standard these members quietly live every week.
A heartfelt testimony from somewhere you might not expect. ❤️

This is BYU football’s version of missionary work. Gotta love it! Thanks Pat! Really appreciate you correcting some stuff for us as well!
We were standing out there and I got hit in the calf by The Book of Mormon 😂😂 That was such an incredible moment out there in Provo #PMSLive

I’d enjoy this more than the Holy War, TBH.
Should Notre Dame vs. BYU become an annual rivalry? BYU defeated Notre Dame 28-24 in an instant classic that was mired in controversy. Both fanbases have since clashed heavily online over the game. The Irish lead the all-time series 7-3, with the Cougars scheduled to travel to South Bend next season.

My biggest concern for BYU football is coming down off the high of beating Notre Dame, getting ranked 2, and looking toward the Holy War on a couple weeks. It’s a dangerous time! If we let our guard down against UCF, we’ll get clobbered. Go cougs! Season’s not over. Time to focus.

If all the other Christians say the “Mormons have the wrong Jesus”, insinuating that there are two Jesus’s, couldn’t the Latter-day Saints say the same thing? “All those creedal Christians believe in the wrong Jesus! They let a council of men define him rather than the Word of God!” Come learn of the real Jesus and be saved!

I’ve been developing a theory about eternal progression and Lorenzo Snow’s teaching: “As man now is, God once was; as God now is, man may be.” Jesus Christ came to earth as a perfect but mortal man. Through His Atonement and Resurrection, He overcame death and was glorified. We are taught that through Him, we too can become perfected, inherit all that the Father has, and become joint-heirs with Christ. But here’s where I’ve been wondering about the eternal nature of the Godhead. What if the Father was never in our exact position, but was once in Christ’s? What if He too served as a Savior under His Father? And what does that mean for the Holy Ghost? We know He is a personage of spirit, without a physical body. But is that His eternal condition? Could the Holy Ghost eventually fulfill a role similar to Christ’s, as part of an eternal progression we don’t yet fully understand? Could there be a pattern within the Godhead that extends beyond what has been revealed to us? I don’t claim to know. This is speculation, not established doctrine. But the possibility fascinates me. What we do know is that through Jesus Christ, we can be saved, perfected, and continue progressing eternally. And whatever the full nature of eternity looks like, that’s an extraordinary promise.
The criticism is fair. Many Mormons run from Lorenzo Snow’s doctrine today, and @Mormonger's reply shows exactly how. Every verse he cites speaks to the second half of the couplet. Joint heirs with Christ. We shall be like Him. Partakers of the divine nature. A seat on His throne. A Catholic or Orthodox priest could affirm every one of those. That is theosis, and it is not what Lorenzo Snow wrote or what Joseph preached over King Follett's grave. "As man now is, God once was; as God now is, man may be." The first half is the doctrine, and it is the half nobody wants to defend. Joseph said it without flinching. God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man. The Father dwelt on an earth as Jesus did. He laid down His body and took it up again. He knelt in the dirt before He sat on the throne. That is what this image shows. The man at the water's edge is the Father in His mortal season, and the glory in the reflection is what He became. If he looks like Christ, that is the point. Joseph taught that the Son does what He saw the Father do. The essay @Mormonger cites makes my case for me. It says little has been revealed about the first half of the couplet, so little is taught. President Hinckley told Time in 1997, "I don't know that we teach it. I don't know that we emphasize it." When general conference and prophets go quiet on certain doctrine, the pews forget. A significant number of LDS no longer hold the King Follett God. They hold the safe half (my @Mormonger) and call it the whole.

I once dated a girl for about 18 months. We had planned to get married. We’d discussed the wedding, picked out a ring, and I’d even spoken with her dad to ask for his blessing. He gave it. That’s when things got crazy. While I was talking with him in a back room of their house, his wife discovered what was going on. She was furious. She stormed through the house, throwing pans and making it abundantly clear that she did not approve of me marrying her daughter. Why? Because she didn’t believe I would become an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’m not kidding. That’s genuinely what this was about. She was convinced her daughter was supposed to marry a future apostle, and she’d apparently convinced her husband and daughter of the same thing. On multiple occasions, I was asked: “Do you think you could be called as a prophet of God?” How exactly does someone answer that? The best I could come up with was, “God qualifies those He calls. So I suppose if He wanted me to serve in that capacity, He’d qualify me to do so. But I certainly wouldn’t count on it.” Apparently, that wasn’t a satisfactory answer. The next day, her mother sat her down and told her: “I can’t stop you from marrying him, but when you think about who God wants you to marry, I know you’ll make the right choice.” The conversations continued. At one point, my girlfriend’s sister told me that their mother had chosen her husband for her. She admitted she hadn’t loved him at first, but said she’d grown to love him. Somehow, this was presented as further evidence that maybe her mother knew best about my relationship, too. Eventually, our relationship fell apart. In many ways, this was an incredible family. But in other ways, I think I dodged a major bullet. A year or two later, she reached out to say she was coming to town and asked if she could visit. I declined. I knew where that might lead, and I had no interest in reopening that chapter of my life. She’s since married and has a family of her own. I don’t know her husband or whether he’ll ever become an apostle. Though I did hear he has a tattoo, and I’ve never seen an apostle with one of those. Maybe he’ll be the first! 😂 As for me, I’m now married to an incredible woman, and we have two beautiful children who are my whole world. Sometimes I look back at the decisions I’ve made, the relationships that ended, and the heartbreaks I experienced along the way. It’s remarkable how differently my life could have turned out. But I can honestly say that if I could go back and do it all again, I’d willingly relive every heartbreak, every disappointment, and every difficult lesson, so long as the road still brought me here. To my wife. To my children. To the life I have today. I wouldn’t trade any of it for anything.

I have a theory about why her mother actually didn’t like me. She once made a passing comment that I reminded her of an ex-fiancé who had essentially left her at the altar. Apparently, he’d run off to Texas just before their wedding. She went down there after him, only for him to tell her he couldn’t marry her. Basically Runaway Bride, but with the roles reversed. I’ve sometimes wondered if I reminded her of that painful experience and whether it influenced how she saw me. I could be completely wrong, but I’ve always wondered if there was more to her opposition than my unlikely future as an apostle. 😂

Mormons are Christians: the evidence In April 1985, Bruce R. McConkie, an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, stood at the pulpit while cancer was killing him. He used what strength he had left to testify of Christ. Thirteen days later he was dead. He did not spend his last public words on a creed or a program. He spent them on Gethsemane, on the cross, and on the empty tomb. He spoke as a man who knew he would soon stand before the Savior he was describing. “I am one of his witnesses.” Please just watch the video. Then look at how Mormons live, how they serve, and how they worship. Then tell me they are not Christians. They take communion every Sunday and promise to always remember Him. They are baptized in His name, they pray in His name, and His name is on the sign of every chapel they build. Their book was written to convince the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, and its prophets talk of Christ, rejoice in Christ, and preach of Christ to the last page. They send their sons and daughters to the ends of the earth at their own expense to tell strangers about Him. They go hungry once a month so the poor can eat, and when disaster hits, the yellow shirts show up before the cameras do. You can argue with their theology all day, but you cannot argue with a people who have built their entire lives around a Man they have never seen. If that is not Christian, nobody is. -- reality

Why is the AP suddenly allowing three Big 12 teams into the top 10? For years, it has felt like the Big 12, and BYU in particular, have struggled to get the same respect as the SEC and Big Ten. So what’s changed? I have a theory. There’s an ongoing power struggle over expanding the College Football Playoff to 24 teams. The Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC have supported expansion, while the SEC has been more resistant. And that got me thinking. What if the success of the Big 12 this season is helping build the case for expansion? With three Big 12 teams ranked in the top 10, it’s becoming harder to argue that college football’s best teams are concentrated in just two conferences. Now, I’m not suggesting AP voters are necessarily coordinating their rankings to influence playoff negotiations. But rankings shape public perception, and public perception can create pressure. The more legitimate playoff contenders there are across multiple conferences, the stronger the argument becomes for giving more teams a shot. Maybe the AP is simply giving the Big 12 the respect it has earned on the field. Or maybe, intentionally or not, these rankings are helping shift the politics of playoff expansion. Either way, I find the timing interesting. What do you think?

THREE Big 12 teams in the Top 10 is incredible! BYU at 2 is well deserved!
Not a single team stayed put in this week’s AP Top 25. Miami is No. 1 for the first time since 2002 and BYU climbs to No. 2 after a historic weekend of upsets. See where your team landed: apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-col…
