Jeremy Strong went full method and spoke only as Mark Zuckerberg for the entire production of ā€˜THE SOCIAL RECKONING’. He also sent an email to Zuckerberg to say he took the ā€œresponsibility very seriously, and the veracity of it seriously.ā€ (Source: gq.com/story/jeremy-strong-s…)

Keir Starmer arriving at work tomorrow
Another Labour MP tears into Keir Starmer's strategy so far "We can’t out right wing Reform whilst at the same time try out left winging the Greens. Labour should perhaps just be Labour. Truth is McSweeney forced Starmer into the room with the NEC to block the most popular Labour politician in England in Andy Burnham. That showed weakness not strength. Keir has got away, for too long, with saying he hadn’t been involved when decisions taken have gone wrong. This time he, Keir, must own this catastrophe. The Greens with a foothold in Manchester is nothing less than a disaster for the Party. We can fight Reform on policy but we cannot appear more progressive than the Greens. Not under this leadership."

Stepping back, there’s not been a result for the non-Labour left like this since *at least* Communist Party heyday in late 1940s & they only got 2 MPs, weren’t 2nd place across country. Tectonic shift, far bigger than Iraq - the big q is whether English left will take opportunity
The Tories were smashed - and Greens and independents surged. In dozens of seats, the Greens came a strong second behind Labour. For the left, there is more grounds for optimism than there has been for years. Celebrate - and organise.

Michael Wheeler sat on the three person panel that blocked @faizashaheen for liking perfectly reasonable tweets. Faiza’s baby cried throughout (she had been given only hours notice of the meeting that decided her fate). Michael had his camera off as he was ā€œout and aboutā€. Two days later he’s parachuted into a seat of his own. Do you want these people running the country?
Latest Labour selections announced tonight see some candidacies given to trade union people: Mark Ferguson, former LabourList editor from Unison; Michael Wheeler, NEC member from Usdaw (his no 2 Connor Rand was picked for Altrincham yesterday); Kate Dearden from Community

If Faiza was Jewish you simply wouldn’t dream of writing this. This is how a hierarchy of racism operates.
"Faiza Shaheen crying on Newsnight isn’t a story of hapless mismanagement derailing the Labour campaign. For certain cynical Starmer advisers keen to communicate a very specific point, she’s doing their job for them." newstatesman.com/politics/20…

I think people of conscience should vote against Labour this year. They’re going to win anyway and a minority government is the least bad available option

Faiza Shaheen, Lloyd Russell-Moyle – this is exactly the kind of Stalinist purge the hacks were all screaming would happen under Corbyn (and never happened). So much for the broad church, eh?

Labour using risible claims of antisemitism to bully and ruin the political fortunes of women of colour is one of the most obnoxious things I’ve seen in politics. It is using fake accusations of racism to be racist. Utterly shameful. No self-declared antiracist would tolerate it

If you've made it this far, I'm going to shill for the Greens (join.greenparty.org.uk/join-…). The Green Party is democratic, progressive, and with some of the most supportive, principled people you could meet. It's good to be in a party again that I'm proud of being a member of.

To anyone who thinks Labour will be the lesser of two evils on Palestine: we are weeks away from the head of We Believe In Israel potentially becoming a minister of state. A Starmer govt will be significantly more ideological about perpetuating the genocide than a Sunak one.
Congratulations to @lukeakehurst, Labour's candidate for North Durham!

Do not vote Labour. The people running it have clearly gone out of their minds, high on factional rage. Don’t give these petty score-settlers the keys to the country

It's hard to watch Newsnight. Just huge sorrow & heartbreak for @faizashaheen. Who treats people like that? To find your whole campaign has been cancelled by an email a few days before nominations. It's callous. It's cruel. And it's a mark of who they are. Solidarity, Faiza.

The thing that really grates about applying this kind of ā€œInside Baseballā€ analysis to politics is we’re not spectators, it’s something we’re active participants of and impacted by. So the deceit of a politician shouldn’t be brushed off as if it’s just a clever move in a fun game
'Those pledges were to get him through that leadership election and job done' On the fourth anniversary of his leadership election win, Politico UK Editor, Rosa Prince, says Sir Keir Starmer sometimes changes his plan based on his goal. #Newsnight
