Interesting observation from @TreyIdeker and colleagues: could #epigenetic ageing clocks reflect somatic mutation rather than cellular reprogramming? Good rule of thumb: whenever there's an "epigenetic" change, look for a genetic change. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Have you signed this yet? You should. HDR students shouldn't be struggling to put food on the table and pay rent, on top of the other challenges they already face. Petition closes 24 July 2024, 11:59 PM (AEST).
HDR students work extremely hard & they aren’t paid anything near what’s reasonable. The current minimum stipend is $32k p.a., ~ $12k below the national minimum wage. Students deserve better, please share & sign this petition. Raise the HDR Stipend aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petit…

Amazing results from @sergekoren. Near perfect assembly of human, ont only. "We found the accuracy of Duplex data to be similar to HiFi sequencing, but with read lengths tens of kb longer, .... assemblies have a base accuracy exceeding 99.999% (Q50) and near-perfect continuity"
Gapless assembly of complete human and plant chromosomes using only nanopore sequencing biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #biorxiv_bioinfo

Imprinting in placenta via nanopore. Worth a read if you're into that sort of thing! Gratitude to all involved, foremost the co-lead authors Michalea Kindlova and Hannah Byrne (no twitter afaik). Many thanks to @QLDFamilyCohort for making this possible. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
