Police seized the phone. They still can’t unlock it. The phone is running GrapheneOS. According to The Globe and Mail, investigators have so far been unable to unlock a seized GrapheneOS phone during an investigation into a series of shootings in Toronto. Police believe the device may contain communications and other data that could help identify those responsible for ordering the shootings. The striking part? Investigators have physical possession of the device, but reportedly still can’t access its contents. A real-world example of what smartphone security can mean in practice. theglobeandmail.com/canada/a… #GrapheneOS #Privacy #MobileSecurity #Android

GrapheneOS is defending its duress password feature after a user was charged in the US for allegedly activating it during a federal border search. The GrapheneOS foundation cannot and will not help US prosecutors in any way. A duress password is a second passcode that doesn’t unlock your phone, instead, it securely wipes the device’s encrypted data, making it inaccessible. GrapheneOS says the feature is legal and exists to protect user privacy. The project also says it has no ability to recover wiped data or assist investigators because the data is permanently erased.

Treated like a criminal just because you are using privacy-enhancing software, it is already happening: "The US Department of Justice is prosecuting Atlanta resident Samuel Tunick after he allegedly gave a GrapheneOS duress PIN while border agents were trying to search his Google Pixel phone"

Some politicians in the UK think it is a good idea to introduce identity verification for using VPN services. It could be that these politicians do not understand what they are proposing. The alternative, that they do understand, would be even worse. Whistleblowers, activists, and journalists depend on anonymous VPN services. Requiring identity verification for VPN services would put them at risk. It would also have a chilling effect on online debate (VPNs can help people post anonymously on social media). In authoritarian countries, VPN services are crucial forcriticizing the government. That is precisely why such governments seek to ban or restrict them. Hopefully, the UK will not join that list.

12 years. No VCs. No CEO. No corporate bailouts. Just a dozen years of being hunted by every three-letter agency on the planet. They delisted it from the transparent casinos. They slapped IRS bounties on the cryptography. They flooded the network with spam attacks. The network didn't flinch. It just kept routing. Look around today. The clearnet is rolling out mandatory digital ID ankle monitors. The "sound money" crowd is literally debating base-layer confiscation buttons to protect their fiat bags from a quantum dump. Total panic in the light. Absolute stability in the dark. While the rest of the space rots into a regulated surveillance derivative, XMR is quietly celebrating 12 years of flawless, untraceable settlement. The baseline utility never drops. Surviving a decade-plus of state-level hostility is the only audit that matters. Happy Moneroversary to the builders, the node runners, and the operators. Raise a glass. Then get back to the terminal. Keep building.
We're celebrating our 12th birthday today! 🎉 A happy Moneroversary to all, to many more years of Monero being at the forefront of privacy, keeping your transactions and holdings private and secure!

#KYC is bullshit! It does not prevent Money laundering, terror financing or Child abuse! 🤯🤯🤯 60.000.000 records stolen! We are only 85 Million People!
ID age verification just had its biggest data leak yet, even bigger than Persona's. According to @CyberNews, an unsecured database linked to IDMerit exposed one billion personal records across 26 countries. Age verification was always about one thing: violating your privacy.

The brave new world of Stablecoins. They are the real #CBDC they will deliver us, while we in fear of an idea there thinking of. Its like a #Trump signaling to take #greenland, but in reality just fought a better deal for his country.

And so, #Lightning is gone for #Europe. No average store is willing to keep there own node running.

🇬🇧 #Qubic tried to attempt a 51% Attack on #Monero? Nope, but Selfish Mining. A smaller thread? In this video, I have a look at Qubic, its founder Come from Beyond (Sergey #Ivancheglo) and discuss the selfish mining of August and September 2025. The 19 Block Reorg is just as much a topic as the misguided incentives and manipulation techniques that #CfB uses to win over honest miners to its side. youtube.com/watch?v=E0EdmlZK…
