Think for one moment. In every single war that America has fought, we have never asked for land afterward—except for enough to bury the Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

This "history" account has almost 400,000 followers and so a basic corrective about the origins of colonial slavery in the Americas is required to counter this insidious narrative.

Work from home dad Chronicle #7678. My favorite part of watching Blues Clues is thinking about the logistics of Blue setting up these intricate ass clues. Back to reading about slavery and stuff.

The perniciousness of this narrative goes beyond the false narrative that slavery had some underlying benefit to the enslaved. It also promotes the idea that Africans and their descendants did not posses those skills until they were enslaved. That those skills did exist in Africa
Watters: This is historical fact that slaves did develop skills while they were enslaved and then used those skills as blacksmiths, in agriculture, tailoring, in the shipping business, to benefit themselves and their families..
