"The protection of women and children feels so important to me, Refuge do so much more than being on the ground in refuge centres." Thank you so much @Billiepiper for using your voice to raise awareness of Refuge in your latest @GraziaUK interview.

Well done to @SikhWomensAid for highlighting domestic and child abuse within the Sikh community. Only by knowing the issues in detail can we ever hope to deal with them and provide the support that victims need @nazirafzal @VeraBaird @VictimsComm theguardian.com/society/2021…

If you want to help an adult or child survivor of domestic violence and abuse, you have to behave as differently to the perpetrator as possible. Be respectful, consistent, reliable, honest, reasonable, realistic, empowering, caring, and as non-coercive as you possibly can be.

The concept of coercive control in cases of domestic violence & abuse can get unhelpfully twisted to mean different things. This can cause substantial problems, especially when perpetrators try to use the concept to claim they are the victims & their victim is the perpetrator.

Case listed from 10am to 1pm. Judge says can sit into the afternoon. I say I cannot sit beyond 3pm as have personal commitments. Judge asks me to try and make alternative arrangements … where is the protection of well-being if it doesn’t come from the top?

On behalf of the @TheCriminalBar COVID safety group: Please be aware of prevalence in your local area. If you have school aged children living with you, it may be an idea to do an LFT on a Sunday i.e. before you attend court, then again on Wednesday/Thursday.

🙄 This, and the fact that the 20 court Snaresbrook CC can currently only have 20 people in the cells total on any given day across its main building and annexe is one of the main reasons for the backlog and delays. Hopeless.
Time stands still as there are insufficient dock officers to bring up the accused in a four-handed trial due a 10.30 start 🙄

“ He’s not an abuser because he’s never abused ME” should not be the yardstick used- especially with #coercivecontrol An abuser will not abuse EVERY person they have a relationship with- especially if they need to proof they are NOT an abuser.

If you are a male victim of domestic abuse, please take part in this survey as this survey is aimed at you too. Please feel free to make clear (there are blank boxes at the end) how such non-inclusive videos like this make you feel.
🗪 Please share YOUR views and experiences of violence against women and girls. 📝 We are reaching the end of the consultation period which is open to all, and your responses will help build our strategy to tackle these crimes. 👉 gov.uk/homeoffice/VAWG-be-he…
