I love this. Such an important thing to remember as a mentor, teacher, employer, etc.
Thanks so much! I’ve learned that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

In these days without conferences, we need to find new ways to communicate our science. I'm not going to say that I know the right or wrong way to do this. But the right way is with Lego. @Afarnti @PNASNews

A few tips and tricks to think about: -create daily goals and an hourly schedule for yourself -experiment with different motivational strategies (sticker charts work great for adults, too!) -don't go it alone - form a group and check in with each other at least once a day

Excited to share our work @MolecularCell on a genome-wide pathway that selectively degrades mRNAs with highly-structured 3'UTRs. This structure-mediated RNA decay (SRD) pathway senses the overall base-pairing density, but not defined sequences/structures. dlvr.it/RPJz1L

Learning research means doing research: @TheTracyLab “If a kid wants to play soccer, you don’t say, ‘You have to 1st learn all the rules, watch other people play & read about the soccer greats, & maybe in a couple years, we’ll let you kick the ball.’ No!” ucla.in/2GrGHeD

Thrilled to share our latest work with the bioinformagician @kiminsigne. We measure promoter activity of 500,000+ sequences spanning the entire E. coli genome with 8x coverage and systematically mutate discovered promoters to identify regulatory elements.

Have you seen all these recent spliceosome #cryoEM structures and just wished you could see the bigger picture beyond all the snRNPs and RNAs and a million protein names? Check out our review! annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10… Minimum detail, many pretty pictures, and LOTS of MOVIES

WOW WOW WOW Reconstituted Cohesin caught live extruding DNA loops! Turns out it needed an energy boost from its friends NIPBL and MAU2 "single human cohesin complexes form DNA loops symmetrically at up to 2.1 kbp/second." Iain Davidson et al., Peters lab science.sciencemag.org/conte…

If you want to have good ideas, you need to have a lot of ideas, and that means you need to have a lot of bad ideas. And, you need to have the courage to look closely and be honest with yourself in order to separate the good ideas from the bad ideas. Not easy, but so worth it.
