And remember things were growing very badly due to cloudy El Niño. A malnourished cow creates a biological bottleneck: if it stopped milking, became ill, or died, the system would be immediately unviable. Diversity is better

Exactly. The same reason the hens wouldn’t lay

One cow, on three acres, for that many people? How little protein would you like them to have?

This is “carnivore” propaganda and not at all why Biosphere 2 failed. Adding more animal agriculture would have made the issues even worse! Don’t fall for it my man

This is a false twisted take on this story. Oxygen fell, crops underproduced, pollinators died. Adding more animal agriculture would have increased food, water and CO2 demands

Another industry trend that started before the pandemic but Covid then supercharged

To clarify, I can see that unmetabolised folic acid will compete and bind to receptors but not that this leads to folate deficiency in healthy people

What’s your source for the claim “folic acid blocks folate receptors” or “blocks uptake of folate”? I can see this claim being made a lot on this thread but I can’t see it’s supported by research and would love to know the source

Both folic acid and folate are forms of vitamin B9. Folic acid is the best-proven form for preventing neural-tube defects in early pregnancy

I think there are errors in this map. Denmark is definitely wrong: has universal tax-funded healthcare. You have to pay for things like dentistry, but you also have to do this in England?

I’ve never had a refund from JustEat - sought one 3 times (each time for non delivery). I’ve had two from Deliveroo and one from Uber Eats and as a result I never ever ever use JustEat any more

This reminds me, when you think deeply about it, of how absolutely crazy the clock system is and how it’s a miracle that most of us always get it right

Genocide is not determined by death toll - an intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group “as such”, not just to kill civilians or take territory. US Helsinki Commission argues it is genocide though

You’re not a reliable North Star in matters of what a social democratic party should and should not do, being an authoritarian

For the motion to mean anything, it either had to change the discourse beyond the party (ie. other people follow suit) or the party gets into political power so that it can enact its policies. If it does neither, it’s failed - that’s the calculation by some of its opponents?

Astonishing mental rigidity, Matthew. If you don’t understand your allies we’ll never form a viable coalition and our aims will fall short of being enacted. But you’ll be ideologically pure, and at the end of the day that’s what matters

Do you know Chris Brooks?

Estoppel defence should be explored. Two factors must apply: your son must not have reasonably known he was being overpaid; your son improved his position with the money in such a way that it would be unfair to seek repayment
